ReutersSo much for the cryptic tweet from the Redskins that Kirk Cousins “is expected” to start at quarterback.
According to Albert Breer of NFL Network, usual starter Robert Griffin III won’t even be in uniform for Sunday’s game at Cleveland, due to a knee injury suffered last Sunday.
This means that the options at quarterback will be Cousins and the original RG3 (and out), Rex Grossman.
The 7-6 Redskins have won four games in a row, and they need another victory today to remain in the playoff chase.

At halftime he will get his uni on
Even though the timing for this injury may be bad, to play Griffin with a weakened knee could result in making something mild into something severe. So RGIII will just have to live to fight another day.
Cousins might not have the reps this season, but last game he showed willingness and ability. The Skin’s are on the cusp of making the playoffs so I’ll bet that the O line will bow up and support him well.
I don’t know which early game to watch today. I only have 2 screens.
He will be lucky to suit up again this year. Two players for the Giants (Williams and Philips) dealt with knee sprains and missed a combined 13 games. Philips came back tweaked the same knee and has missed the last two games.
RG 3 and Out? Hysterical.
Smart move by the Skins. Even if they get bounced from the play-offs, why risk career threatening injury to your star QB. Good luck Cousins! But I like my Browns in this one!
Skins may NOT have to win today. As much as it pains me to say it, Giants could blow it today. You know how much they hate to make it easy on themselves. This is exactly the kind of game NY has become infamous for not showing up for. If it was a playoff game, I would bet the house NY would run over Atlanta. Regular season game with playoff implications? For whatever reason, they often decide not to show up for those games.
gimme the ball!
Kirk Cousins will have a memorable performance today. No worries. Kid is wayyyy smart and should have been taken much higher in April. He’ll make believers of everyone this afternoon.
Rex Grossman = RG3-and-out.
That’s funny.
May need to switch that pic to Cleveland now
Go Browns!
Redskins fans better get use too seeing that picture…cause IRG3 will get carried off the field alot during his 3 year career
Until I see RGIII “inactive”, and RGIII and Out “active”, I don’t believe anything.
RG3 was the first one on the field…
lots of staffers in suits with him
welcome to the big boys league bobby, knocked out two times in less than 16 games!
you better change you style of play or your career will be vick-esque. (if it already isn’t)
The guys at Brown’s stadium are reporting that RG3 is warming up.not typical behavior for someone who won’t suit up…
Here we go Brownies……..
You know how you can tell that the Washington Redskins aren’t a legitimate contender? By the way they played hide-the-ball with RG3′s injuries.
I am a Skins fan and hope Cousins has a great game but my prediction is he throws several picks to a solid Browns defensive backfield. If Skins lose, they are done period for the year even if they win the last two games. Hope Cousins plays well for two reasons…a win and trade bait in the offseason. HTTR
Skins are looking pretty smart for drafting Cousins now
If Cousins lights it up – does that make RGIII a “system QB” like so many accused Rodgers of being after his #2 lit it up?
That’s ridiculous. If the Redskins lose today they are still very much in the playoff hunt. They do not need to win to remain in the chase.
as long as we don’t have to see Rex tonight…
“Skins are looking pretty smart for drafting Cousins now”
But how smart are they for drafting Rg3??? Sure he’s fun to watch but wouldn’t you want to watch him for all 16 games if you are a skins fan?
Now, maybe he’ll learn his lesson and get down sooner.
I don’t get to see RG111 play very often in my area, But every time I’ve seen him play, he’s been a lot of fun to watch. Let him heal. A long winning career, is more important than one game. Also Coach Shanahan has been around long enough to know what to try.
Finally. Dont have to hear about RGIII anymore.
Are people serious saying they were smart to draft cousins and he played so well last week? The guy has 2 NFL completions, pump your brakes. Mohamed Sanu is 1 for 1 for 73 yards, what a great job drafting that qb’s…..wide receiver rather.
