Jayron Hosley departs briefly with ankle injury

Mike Wallace AP

The Giants are down two touchdowns to the Falcons in the first quarter and they might be down one more cornerback for the rest of the day.

Rookie Jayron Hosley, who started Sunday in place of the injured Prince Amukamara, left the game during the Falcons’ second drive with an injured ankle. His return is considered questionable.

Hosley got hurt on a play that saw Falcons wide receiver Harry Douglas beat him badly for 37 yards on a double move. Hosley came up hobbling at the end of the play and was replaced by Justin Tryon for the rest of the drive.

Matt Ryan ended that drive with a 12-yard touchdown pass to Tony Gonzalez, who went up high to get the ball for the 103rd score of his long career. That made the score 14-0 and that’s where it remains with 22 seconds to play in the first quarter.

UPDATE 1:42 p.m. ET: Hosley has returned to the game for the Giants.

Toast Tryon is a nightmare. Hosley gets caught peeking and rolls his ankle trying to get back. Real smart to talk trash all week and screw up on your first target.
