Packers kicker Mason Crosby may be looking for work soon.
Crosby missed another field goal on Sunday in Chicago, this one a 43-yarder that would have given Green Bay a 3-0 lead. That was his 11th missed field goal of the season, and he has now missed a field goal in eight straight games.
Although Packers coach Mike McCarthy gave Crosby a vote of confidence four weeks ago, it’s hard to believe that McCarthy could still be confident in Crosby now. He simply isn’t accurate enough on his field goals to justify keeping his job.
Crosby has been the Packers’ kicker for six years, and they may not feel comfortable making a change with the playoffs right around the corner. But they’ve got to be even less comfortable with the idea of Crosby lining up for a field goal with a playoff game on the line.
