Its not so much his misses but rather how badly he does miss them.

Some kicks come off his foot like a wounded duck, far left, then far right, its not even in the general neighborhood.

Crosby reminds me of my brother in-law on the golf course with a driver in his hand. We all know its about to get real entertaining, we just don’t know which direction it will go.

If I was the packers I would use a roster spot for a second kicker. Let the other kicker work the rest of this season but don’t release Crosby. If he gets it together again next season they will regret that for years.

It’s tougher to kick in the weather they had in Chicago today. He’s still the best kicker in the NFL.

The Pack is letting go of Finley who is doing better and keeping Crosby who is doing worse.
Maybe it’s time they rethink these priorities.

Mason Crosby isn’t going anywhere. Period. First, he has done enough good in his five years with the team (including a big kick in a Super Bowl) to just be let go. The vast majority of his misses are from 50 plus. With the exception of the first miss today they all are solid kicks that are just not going through. Its a slump. When you are considering replacing a guy that the team committed a kings ransom for a kicker in July 2011 you better be 100% certain that he will not come out of it. Also, you have to be certain the currently unemployed kicker you bring in is better and ready to kick well in playoff type games. It makes zero sense to make a change every way you look at it.

Could they put Mason Crosby on injured reserve? Then they don’t lose him (he has been good until this latest stretch) and get someone for the rest of the year.

I’ll bet you $100 Ted’s on the phone as we speak calling free agents in for try outs. Crosby is most likely gone by Wednesday. He will not be here for the end of the season.

man, that’s kickers for you. they are amazing for a while, then hit a slump that makes no sense, then they go sign someplace else and all of a sudden are good again (case in point? the other kicker out there right now, playing for the Bears. Remember when Olindo Mare was untouchable in Miami?)
