Redskins pulling away from Browns

AP

It didn’t look good early for the Redskins, but it’s currently looking great.

Led by rookie quarterback Kirk Cousins, the Redskins currently lead the Browns by 10 points in Cleveland, 24-14.

The most recent score came on a two-yard touchdown pass to receiver Leonard Hankerson, his second score of the day.

Cousins has completed 16 of 25 passes for 199 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception.

For the Browns, Trent Richardson has only 28 rushing yards, but a pair of touchdowns.

  1. Griffin or Cousins, guess it doesn’t matter.

And if I was a Browns fan I would be pissed the Browns used a #1 pick on a 29 year old rookie.

Looking at Cousins and Weeden, one would think Cousins is playing in his 14th game and Weeden was playing in his 1st game as a rookie. Jaw dropping.

  2. What a joke, these refs are a joke, Moss aready spun the ball earlier in the game, Garçon gets a big gain and it’s taunting. These guys are a joke! That is all.

  3. You should mention at this point that weeden has 2 picks 121 yards 4 batted balls against the 31st ranked pass defense LMFAO, and that the redskins like every other team we’ve faced this year are putting 8-9 guys up at the line daring weeden to throw. Weeden (1st rd) is clearly getting outplayed by cousins(4th rd) this in itself is pathetic.

  4. y’all gotta be kiddin me. you know how many penalties the refs have given the browns? you know how many they’ve missed like PI on garcon and unsportsmanlike conduct ALL GAME. browns d is dirty. y’all mad. btw congrats on getting a skins first down turned over for free when they got it.

  5. There was so many other needs that the browns could have taken with their 1st round pick, instead they got him at #23 when they could of gotten him in the second or third round. Even better yet they should have never drafted him!!

  6. Looks like all those picks the Redskins traded away for RGIII they will soon have back when they trade Kirk Cousins in a couple years. He is looking good. Keep him around to back up for the next 2 years, continue to develop him and then trade him.

  7. Redskins could and did.
Thanks for the heads up not to sleep on the Browns.
Really had the Skins fanbase woried to death.
Whew, glad the cliffhanger is over.

  8. very nice win by the Skins. hope RG3 is ready for next week, if not, Cousins should be able to lead the team to victory against the lowly Eagles. But I want RG3 behind center against the Cowboys.

  9. I said it all week. The only game I was not worried about all year was Cleveland. It is CLEVELAND. Richardson outplayed my Morris. Weeden outplayed by Cousins. Cleveland is garbage. Your team stinks. Oh, 3 game winning streak. LOL. You played a legit team and got humiliated at home. You have been measured and found lacking. NEXT.

  10. what was that browns fans? Your team is hot and dont sleep on the Browns? Yeah our backup rookie just made yall look like a joke. And once again our 6th round pick made your 3rd overall pick T Rich look like a huge bust. Weeden couldn’t do anything against the 31st ranked pass D, yeah start looking for your next qb of the future. Hey, maybe we will give you Cousins for say a 2nd rd pick? Btw, those refs made some horrible calls on both sides. But for Garcon to just spin the ball and point first down and then have someone push him but he gets called for taunting? Every body does that every time they make a first down catch. Horrible calls, horrible refs

  11. I can’t wait to see the Redskins choke down the stretch. No class from their players on the field today or most of the fans commenting here online.

You’re tied for 1st in the NFC East, you just won nicely against a team that’s played their hearts out the past 3 weeks. Show a little dignity, win in stride, you must have all forgotten it’s been a long time since you’ve been in this position.

  12. =RG3 isn’t as good as everyone is making him out to be and this game proves it. Last year this team was a 6 win team with Rex Grossman and not a top notch RB and not as good of WRs. The team overall is pretty solid.

  13. No one has mentioned the Skins OL. For a bunch of second-stringers and free agents, they’ve coalesced into a pretty decent OL.

  14. The Brownies have played well in recent weeks, but there’s no shame in losing the way they did today. They have more reason to hope going into next year than they had in years and as a long time skins fan I’m very aware that overnight improvement is a rare commodity. Kudos to Jim Haslett, the Skins D has been playing much better since the bye.

  15. @tmillhone

Well in defense of my fellow Skins fans there were a large number of Browns fans running their mouth all week on this site leading up to the game. I don’t condone what some Skins fans are saying on here, but some Browns fans have it coming to them.

As for being a while since the Skins were in this position, well 2007 is a while, but how long has it been since the Browns were in any winning position?

No class from their players on the field? So I guess London Fletcher didn’t hurt his own ankle trying to avoid stepping on Richardson, get kicked in the nuts by Richardson, and then apologize anyway? And I guess it was the Redskins who picked Richardson up and threw him on the ground right in front of the ref who had already signalled a touchdown and blown the play dead, and not the Browns doing that to Morris? And it was a Redskins safety who shoved a Browns receiver after a big play and then the Cleveland receiver was called for taunting?

Look, the Browns are a very solid, up-and-coming team, and no matter what the final score was, they played a good game today. But point is, that the Browns and their fan base have no right to complain about the game or classiness today.

As to Redskins fans being classless, I can see where you’re coming from, but you have to realize how much bull Washington fans have to deal with all week, every week on PFT. Between fake fan trolls like voiceoflogic, straight up trolls like peytonsneck, Robert Griffin haters, and those who hate the Redskins now because of the enmity stirred up byvoiceoflogic, peytonsneck, and Robert Griffin, Redskins fans basically can’t discuss their own team on PFT anymore. So these are fans who have been told all week that their team, who has similarly played their hearts out for the past four (now five… sorry) weeks, that it was all a fluke and that even with Griffin in they wouldn’t stand a chance against Cleveland.

So I guess the moral of my story is that no one is classy on the internet and that teams that have been notoriously bad in recent decades should stick together.

When bad teams get better, the whole NFL improves, which is why the Redskins, Browns, Lions, and Rams should all pull for each other to improve every year and not hope for each other’s failure because of perceived internet classlessness.

  17. I bet you if RGIII keeps taking licks like these & keeps missing games, I am sure that Cousins could get a chance to be the starter & the Skins may package RGIII..watch

LMAO! That guy is truly hilarious. There was one post where he tried to sneak Perry Fewell’s name in with Dick Lebeau’s when discussing which DCs have been able to successfully contain RG3 this year. He’s an obvious NYG homer and ‘Skins hater and none of his bloviated posts can conceal that fact.

  19. honestly, the browns played well today. as a skins fan, i wasnt as offended at their after-the-whistle antics today as i was by the rams about 7 weeks ago. the browns played hard and didnt cross the line like finnegan, long, and laurenitis and i def respect their effort and the history of that team in cleveland (in respects to pro football). with that being said, im proud of my skins for holding it together and it seemed like they quickly realized the browns were TRYING to do what the rams did by winning AFTER the whistles thus causing mental breakdowns by the redskins. stoked right now to be a loyal skins fan, and keep your heads up browns fans, itll get better eventually take it from us.

Before you tell everyone else to “watch”, why don’t you look back and tell me how many times in NFL history a 22-year-old franchise quarterback has been traded after his first year with the team (not including cases where the GM didn’t want the player to begin with, and thinks he’s a bust, like Favre).
