Getty ImagesThe Chargers have many problems, but a familiar one just raised its head.
Running back Ryan Mathews has left the game with a left shoulder injury, and is doubtful to return. Mathews has struggled with durability and ball security, but today’s injury was to the opposite side as his broken collarbone earlier this season.
The Chargers are down 21-0 to the Panthers just before halftime, and with Ronnie Brown inactive, the Chargers are going to have to run with Jackie Battle, such that they’ll run.
UPDATE 5:26 P.M. ET: The Chargers announced that Mathews won’t return.

This guy sucks.
Bust. Walking injury report, ineffective on the rare occasions he plays.
Said it coming out (yes, I’m tooting my own horn) guy was overrated.
Another string of late round/UDFA backs have stormed the scene this year, like Morris and Bryce Brown. When are NFL teams finally gonna stop spending first rounders on these guys? Unless it’s close to an AP level talent, not a chance.
Razzano was right about this guy, too. And Alex Smith. How’s the guy unemployed by NFL teams? Because he’s afraid to against conventional wisdom?

i hope that “won’t return” means that he wont be back on the team next year. dud is made of glass and just cant hang at this level.
