Vikings score, with no help from Peterson

Ponder

At a time when it’s believed that the Vikings will go only so far as running back Adrian Peterson can carry them, the Vikings lead the Rams with no help from Peterson at all.

In fact, they got negative help from Peterson.

The Vikings drove 45 yards for an opening-drive touchdown, with Peterson carrying the ball five times for minus-three yards.

In contrast, the much-maligned Christian Ponder completed three of three passes for 38 yards, and he scored on a five-yard touchdown run on third and goal from the five.
