There’s rain in the forecast in Baltimore later, and Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning wants to be ready for anything.
That’s why he spent time in practice last week wearing a glove on his passing hand, according to Mike Klis of the Denver Post. The gloves are commonly worn by receivers because their tacky surface helps them grip the ball in poor weather.
Manning joked with reporters when asked about the conditions, saying “Who’s giving that weather report on Wednesday? Denver local weather? National weather? You? Do you dabble in the meteorology field? Hey, if it does, it does.”
It’s not going to be terribly cold, and the fact he fiddled around with gloves during the week doesn’t guarantee he uses them. But as with so many things in his career, he’s going to be prepared, in case.
