Browns make a non-football front-office hire

After the 2012 season ends, the Browns could be hiring a new G.M. and a new head coach and plenty of other new employees.

For now, they’re hiring a new team president.

The titles get murky in matters of this nature.  After all, the Browns already have installed Joe Banner as CEO.  He’ll have directly under his control, presumably on the non-football side of the operation, former  Cowboys senior V.P. and general counsel Alec Scheiner.

Arguably the highest-ranking member of the Cowboys not related to owner Jerry Jones, Scheiner was instrumental in the construction of Cowboys Stadium.

And if he had any role in the failure of the organization to secure the “cowboys.com” domain name, the good news is that his new employer already owns Browns.com.
