APIn what could be one of the final roster moves before a “new era in Chargers football” launches, San Diego’s NFL team has placed a trio of players on injured reserve.
Done for the duration are running back Ryan Mathews (collarbone), receiver Malcom Floyd (ankle), and tackle Reggie Wells (ankle-toe). All three were injured in Sunday’s loss to the Panthers.
Two of the three vacancies were filled by elevating a pair of players from the practice squad: receiver Mike Willie and defensive end Damik Scafe.

Great, now they will be forced to play the bust tandem Floyd and Royal more. Chargers are one of the few teams in the league right now that could lose handily to the Jets.
Goodness Dean… you BETTER give AJ his pink slip with Norv. AJ needs to go even moreso than Norv.
AJ has single handedly dismantled our team over the years. We’ve become the ProBowl farm system for the NFL.
You sign a 92 Million Dollar QB and FAIL to draft a single lineman to protect him.
Cmoooooon Maaaaaan….
Mathews had a history of injuries at Fresno State which didn’t stop AJ burning a 2nd rnd pick to trade up to get him.
9 games this yr and in 2010, only 14 last yr.
Also done for the Chargers is Norv Turner!
I’m still saying they should release Mathews and draft Kenjon Barner. As well as NOT releasing Jackie Battle and drafting as many people to protect Rivers as possible.
That would be a good 2013 draft for them.
Norv Turner’s playoff breakdown AFTER inheriting 14-2 roster:
2007 playoffs: 2-1
2008 playoffs: 1-1
2009 playoffs: 0-1
2010 playoffs: Does not qualify
2011 playoffs: Does not qualify
2012: FIRED!
The whole franchise is on IR.
Choo choo!
Look on the bright side, at least none of you are charger season ticketholders….
