@istateyourname - While you've got some good points, I wouldn't bring in Roethlisberger's problems into this. He was never charged with a crime. What these others have done is provable and, in many cases, they confessed. Ray Lewis clearly took part in murder, but he was cleared. I have no respect for the guy and find him despicable, but he was acquitted.

Most any one of us regular Joes would lose our jobs if we were so much as charged with a felony, let alone convicted. Luckily, however, there ARE a few virtuous role models on those sidelines. Unfortunately, the media nor the NFL really seem to care and will never highlight them for such conduct.

So what about the other Cowboys who were at the same event, did not help their teamates to not drive away, and they were presumably on the sidelines and playing in the game? Ray Lewis put a murderous posse together and he's some kind of linebacker God? As long as that POC is afforded any kind of respect, I don't think you can look to the NFL sidelines for the virtuous role models some people think are there. Rothlisberger's problems? If this society lets a man walk free, then then there's no reason he can't be on the NFL sidelines or play in the game in my opinion.

"He ACCIDENTALLY killed his best friend"

Drinking and driving is not an accident, it is a conscious decision. A stupid, arrogant, selfish, criminal one.

I personally don't understand why the Cowboys are all of a sudden averse to having criminals on their sideline. It certainly hasn't bothered them when they're there in uniform.

It’s not about his mom’s opinion outwieghing others. This man killed her child, and if she can find it in her heart to forgive her son’s killer, than I feel like we can’t stay too mad at him.

Forgiveness is for yourself; it doesn’t mean you forget what happened.

-----

I don't agree with this nor do I understand this logic. Just because she forgave him doesn't mean anyone else is obligated to. As you said, forgiveness is for yourself. It's a decision each person has to make.

While those of us in the public are not directly effected we have every right to be upset at someone who foolishly and selfishly violated the law, endangered others, and killed someone as a result. Crimes don't only effect the victim, they have an effect on society. The public is justified in being angry and disturbed by this. This idea that people are wrong for criticizing or not supporting or immediately forgiving a drunk driver is very bizarre.

Whether he should be allowed on the sideline isn't an issue with me. Right or wrong,...not my decision to make.

However, If he is going to be there, at least act contrite. I mean, you did just kill someone. Couldn't believe I saw him laughing and joking. Felt really creepy watching it.

If I were him, I'd been too ashamed and sick to my stomach to have made such an appearance.

Brent is not the victim here. I don't think we should expect him never to smile again, but he absolutely should not be mucking it up and smiling on the sidelines on national tv. Just because the mom forgave him doesn't mean he should have a free pass to enjoy himself on the sidelines. If nothing else, it's a slap in the face to her."Thanks ma'am for the forgiveness, now I'm going to go hang out and joke with my boys."

The Cowboys should get a little heat, but most of it should be aimed at Josh Brent who once again showed terrible lack of judgement by even showing up.

Leave it to Jerry Jones to make it all about his Cowboys.

Since his mediocre QB can't garner any press, why not use a tragedy like this to stir the hornet's nest, right Jerry?
Get the press talking, no matter how bad the conversation is, just get them talking about you.

The guy needs to go to jail if the allegations against him are proven to be true and having him smiling and yucking it up on the sidelines certainly was a PR disaster.

But even given all that, I'm not really following why a member of the Dallas Cowboys would be banned from the sidelines of the Dallas Cowboys. Either the NFL or the Cowboys could suspend him and ban him from the sidelines. Why that hasn't happened is beyond me, but until it does happen it's more than a bit hypocritical for them to complain about him being around the team.

I know this is going to be an unpopular thing to say, but the only difference between what he did driving while drunk, and another player/person driving while drunk IS TOTALLY OUT OF Josh's hands. It was more about chance and bad luck PAST the point of deciding to drive while intoxicated.

If the NFL is going to take this hard of stand, then they better do it to everyone who gets a DUI - since it is only a fortunate occurance when someone doesn't get killed or hurt.

The mistake was Josh driving drunk - not that he purposefully killed someone.

Realdeal, you said: Can I ask a question guys??

What am I not getting here? The guy accidentally killed his best friend. Don’t you think he’s suffering mentally?

What you're missing is the pain that a lot of people feel when it comes to drunk driving. I'm sure Brent regrets his actions, but unlike the untold numbers of people who have been killed by a drunk driver (or killed someone because they were drunk), Brent had the same chance/ability as we all have to not become a statistic.

He made a bad choice, but this isn't only about him. It's about every other person affected by drunk driving, which, sad to say, is all of us.

Its nice that mom forgave this idiot. She doesn't own and run the Cowboys, however.

Dante Stallworth served his sentence and went back to work. Also, Dante behaved MUCH differently that this idiot. The eyewitness account of what happened after the accident says everything we need to know about this scumbags frame of mind.

Now if we could only get Pat Shurmur to get into a car with this drunken fool.......

Brent should have known to stay away for multiple obvious reasons.

Frankly it looks bad for him showing no remorse whether it's the case or not.

Irresponsibilty is no excuse! Forgiveness is a powerful feeling and thought most folks don't have in this society, but I do believe it was inappropriate to have Josh on the sidelines cause I couldn't live with myself being seen by millions after being charged for drunk driving and killing my best friend..he is gone and can't come back..just so sad.

What am I not getting here? The guy accidentally killed his best friend. Don't you think he's suffering mentally? Don't you think he feels like crap too? The dead guy's mother has embraced him because she feels his remorse..isn't that a sign to us all? This man is struggling to make it and he needs his Cowboys teammates for support right now. He ACCIDENTALLY killed his best friend. He's in Hell right now. He may be suicidal for all we know.

Forgiving someone for a crime doesn't mean you should forget and that person should not pay the price. He shouldn't have been there. That should have been part of paying the price for what he did. I think it's great that Brown's mother was strong enough to forgive this guy. However, he still needs to pay and that's that. It'll continue inside of a jail cell here soon.

Donte Stallworth was dealt with by the justice system. He stopped at the scene, attempted to aid the victim,he was not found to be speeding, the victim was jaywalking across a very wide street with fast moving cars.Stallworth plead guilty ,his(short)sentence was arrived at with cooperation of the victims family and taking all facts into consideration. He served it and returned to his profession. Until this case is tried or otherwise resolved, this player has no business being involved in team affairs. The allegations by eyewitness accounts of his apparent indifference to his passenger's condition and fate may well play a large role in how this case is resolved.
