As a Bronco fan, I said it last year & I'll say it this year. What will it hurt to put Tebow in now? You clearly know what you've got with Sanchez, and I can tell you firsthand.... Tebow did some AMAZING things for the Broncos last year!! It wasn't always pretty, but it got the W, & in the end, thats what matters!!

I've seen Sanchez play only about seven or eight times, and every time I've come away less and less impressed. His decision making is atrocious, and if I could think of an adjective worse than that I'd use it. He has no business being on an NFL field. I always questioned his arm strength, but I figured he'd be able to work through his mental issues. His play last night was a disgrace, and unfortunately that's nothing new for him. It seemed like every single chance the Jets had to take over the game he would instead make a backbreaking mistake. I've never seen a starting NFL QB have so much trouble simply hitting intermediate routes. I feel bad for him having to throw to that receiving corps, but he had opportunities to hit open players and just flat out missed. Badly. I remember last season when the Jets played my Eagles, who were in the midst of a terrible season with a terrible secondary, and the Birds just destroyed them. Sanchez looked like hed never seen a defense before. And that final pick he had last night into triple coverage was undoubtedly one of the worst throws I've ever seen. I would've cut him if he didn't have a nice new contract.

The jets should release sanchez and try to trade away tebow to the jags.

*********************************************

And then they should catch a unicorn and ride it around NYC. It's just as possible.

Sanchez is going to either 1) be the starter next year, 2) be a $12 million backup, or 3) be released and cripple the team with his $17 million cap hit if he's let go.

No team is going to give up anything of consequence for Tebow.

How are the Jets going to fit a Smith/Flynn under their cap with Sanchez' numbers?

They should of used tim tebow in the 4th whose known since college to be the miracle QB.
O Btw rex should be on the hot seat, sparano fired and Cam Cameron should get a shot to be OC. That or andy Reid, who has a knack for developing QBs to play better than they really are.

Anyone with any common sense could see this disaster coming for the Jests years ago after watching that Hard Knocks series in what was Sanchez's second year.

It seemed flat obvious that Rex was not HC material, and most certainly that Sanchez was not franchise material. Character shows itself no matter the age or experience level. Could you imagine Luck or RGIII acting like Sanchez did in that pre-season. (and they are only rookies). And Rex thinks coaching amounts to giving profanity filled motivational speeches. The Jets are reaping what they sowed several years earlier.

ajb3313: …trading for Tebow (who they had to know was going to do more harm than good).

It’s amusing the number of fools who blame Tim Tebow for the disaster that is the NY Jets. He’s had exactly 8 passing attempts all year while Sanchez has had 418, so don’t blame Tebow. Sanchez is the problem, and since cutting him would count for over $17 million against the cap in 2013, he’ll continue to be the problem next year.

====================================

I'm not blaming Tebow's play. I'm blaming the team for bringing in a quarterback they knew fans would rally around and clamor for (it had happened the year before in Denver) if they weren't going to use him. To be honest, Tebow looks like a victim in this too. They brought him in, if you remember, to "push Sanchez," yet no matter how badly he struggles they don't make a change. So every single week the quarterbacks are thrust under the same microscope. It's an environment built for failure.

I think back to when Mark Sanchez declared for the NFL draft after one full season under his belt as the USC signal-caller. When he announced his decision Pete Carroll was not too pleased and at the time I took it for sour grapes but it turns out that he was correct.

Sanchez was not ready for the NFL, he needed more time to mature and an extra season may have helped him. His time with the New York Jets has been a roller-coaster ride but with a lot more downs than ups as of late.

The blame shouldn't be placed solely on Sanchez, though he definitely is a major blemish. His decision making is poor and at times seems to just not be completely there.

His talent that surrounds him is average at best. His offensive line is shaky, his running backs are at the bottom and his receiving core is absent. Santonio Holmes is a number two option, Dustin Keller has been injured most of the season, and his other options are practice squad guys.

Rex Ryan and Mike Tannebaum deserve a lot of the blame, they have not been putting the pieces in place to win. The team is only getting older, they need major reconstruction and I have a feeling Sanchez and Ryan are going to be gone for good.

If I were the Jets brass, I'd think of displaying Tim Tebow for the remaining games. He either bombs or does well. If he bombs, so be it, you remove a possible option at quarterback. If he thrives, you can either keep him and let him challenge for the spot or do a sign and trade.

Sanchez is not a gunslinger, he's a back up. He's missing the desire to win to and didn't seem upset at all about losing last night.

He was out there looking for their coach to shake hands with ect. I think you just head to the locker room after a game like that. The emotion just isn't there in him.

Let's try one of those positive-negative-positive constructive feedback methods:

Good news: The Sanchez "era" is over.

Bad news: Rex will not start McElroy because he would lose his job should McElroy succeed, proving Sanchez should have been benched weeks ago.

Good news: Tebow will start the next two games, perform nearly as pathetically as Sanchez, reducing the noise from the delusional Tebow-ites.

This is what we get to look forward to as Jets fans the next few weeks. Great product fellas.

jets12 says: Dec 18, 2012 7:24 AM

As a Jets fan am I disappointed? Of course. But to say this is all on Sanchez is beyond ridiculous. The Jets offense as a whole is terrible. Put the blame where it should be, on those that make the decisions. There should be house cleaning coming and quarterback, in my opinion, should not be at the top of the list.
------------------------------------------------
For your fellow fans' sake, it's a damn good thing you don't make decisions on the team. You obviously don't exactly have 20/20 football vision.

ajb3313: ...trading for Tebow (who they had to know was going to do more harm than good).
---

It's amusing the number of fools who blame Tim Tebow for the disaster that is the NY Jets. He's had exactly 8 passing attempts all year while Sanchez has had 418, so don't blame Tebow. Sanchez is the problem, and since cutting him would count for over $17 million against the cap in 2013, he'll continue to be the problem next year.

Now that they're eliminated from the playoffs they have to start McElroy these last two games and see if he can at least be a backup QB going forward. They have to find one new QB for next year and they have to find out what McElroy has so they know if they have to find 2 or 3 new QB's next year.

It's obvious that Rex and company has no interest in Tebow and that trade is looking more and more like it was 100% Woody Johnson. So even if Tebow is there next year, there's no way that Rex is going to give him a shot as a starting QB. So don't go to Tebow these last two games, go to McElroy and see what he has and see if Rex likes him enough to keep him around as a backup next year.

I think Rex' style of motivating is the biggest problem. Sanchez probably thought he already was a championship caliber QB and didn't feel the need to improve after his first 2 seasons.

Sanchez was a bust from the beginning and you could see his lack of leadership when he was on hard knocks. Rex is the boob who let this guy continue to drive his team into the ground. Tanny is the idiot who brought in Tebow and other malcontents to make the situation worse.

All three need to be fired and today would not be too soon. Then again the owner is an idiot as well so firing all those guys would be impossible because he would have no idea how to move forward.
