Seahawks dominating like no NFL team in more than 70 years

The Seahawks have won their last two games by scores of 58-0 and 50-17, a total combined margin of victory of 91 points. That doesn’t happen every year. Or even every half-century.

In fact, NFL information man Randall Liu confirmed today that it’s been more than 70 years since a team has won back to back games by a combined victory margin of more than 91 points. The last team to do it? The 1941 Chicago Bears.

Those Bears, coached by George Halas and quarterbacked by Sid Luckman (pictured) beat the Chicago Cardinals 53-7 at Wrigley Field on October 12, 1941, then welcomed the Lions to the Friendly Confines the next week and beat them 49-0. The Bears finished 10-1 that year, then blew out the Packers in the division championship game and blew out the Giants in the NFL Championship Game.

Whether Pete Carroll and Russell Wilson can follow in the footsteps of Halas and Luckman and turn their regular-season dominance into a postseason championship remains to be seen. But when an NFL team is doing something that hasn’t been done since before Pearl Harbor, they’re doing something special.

  1. I remember when the niners put a whooping on the jets and bills and the hawk fans came out saying.. ” two bad teams.. pshhh.. ” but now that they do the same to two horrible teams they think they are the kings of the world. hypocrisy anyone?

  2. oh yeah, and before you hawk fans start saying that the hawks still scored 30 pts more than the niners did on those two games.. well, the niners werent trying to run up the score by running fake punts while winning by 30 and then the HC come out saying that he feels bad for doing it.. LMAO!

  4. More like “Seahawks’ assclown head coach running up scores like no NFL team in more than 70 years.”

One and done in the playoffs. And they’re only going to even get that far because of the Replacement Ref gift.

  5. When the Patriots do this everyone calls them classless for running up the score. When Seattle does it, it’s “domination”

But then again, this shouldn’t be a surprise given an NFL fan base in denial that all teams film signals. I just can’t help but wonder why most fans think that coordinators cover their mouths when calling in plays.

  6. Russell Wilson is the best rookie QB and will have a more successful career. The Seahawks absolutely stole him.

Better than Luck. Better than RG.

Seahawks better than the pretenders from San fran

  7. “But when an NFL team is doing something that hasn’t been done since before Pearl Harbor, they’re doing something special.”

something special, or, they’re doing things like running fake punts late in blowouts to run up the score

  8. very special… It was Arizona and Buffalo!

Arizona – last in the NFL in total offense.
    Buffalo – Really? From Toronto?

Ol’ Rah-Rah Pete will hit a wall and the show will take a nose dive.

    It’s the Seahawks.

But what a great place to play!

Someone needs to wake up and get a splash of reality.. if anything, the hawks want to be like the niners so they can try to beat them.. Petey is a copycat…

  10. All I can say to all you Seattle hating CLOWNS is GET USED TO IT!!!! the hawks are gonna be soooo good for soo long!!! Russell is the real deal and Pete and John are top tier gm head coach combo in the LEAGUE!!!! Hahaha.. alongside best home field advantage in the NFL?????? Eww weeeee get all that hate in while you can because Russell and the boys are gonna hoist that Lombardi trophy SEVERAL TIMES in the years to come!!!

    GO HAWKS!!!!!

  11. kattykathy, Wilson better than luck and RG3? LMAO. stick to making babies, and worrying.about women’s rights, as you obviously ate clueless.about football. Wilson is good, but only.seahawks fans actually.believe what you’re sayin… that should be your first clue that you don’t know what you’re talking.about. second, luck and RG3 have done way more, with wayyyyy less. Wilson, is the 3rd best rookie qb, behind RG3 and luck.. just be happy with that, stop trying to make Wilson look better than he really is.

  13. Omg! They beat perennial power houses bills and cardinals. No one has beaten those teams in years! We shld just hand them the lombardi. Overreaction league.

  14. Wilson is not better than Luck or RG3. Seattle has a very stout defense, and when u get a big lead, the offense can play more relaxed and take risks. With the Redskins D, I dont know if Wilson would fair well.

That being said, this is a whole new league consider to 10 years ago, let alone 70! This year alone, the number of offensive records in jeopardy is insane. Receptions (Witten, TG), rushing yards (AP, Eric Dickerson), and receiving yards (megatron, Jerry rice). On the defense, aldon smith and jj watt are both closing in strahan. So this b2b scoring is not at all that impressive, especially since the opponents were terrible.

  15. Anyone who seriously uses the term “running up the score ” in reference to an NFL game is an idiot. The bills and cardinals aren’t good but I’m sure other teams in the last 70 years have played 2 poor teams in a row. And in that time haven’t done what Seattle has to them.

  16. It will happen…

If the Seahawks keep running up scores like they have, teams will eventually set a price on some heads.

Not unlike a bounty, but a “goon” will come in and tattoo a high profile player to “send a message”.

    It WILL happen!

  17. Thank you for the article. The feat of back to back 50 games is something amazing by Seattle and it went under the radar. The team has been firing on special teams, defense and clicking on offense with Wilson leading the way. People say Cardinals are a terrible team, up until they got beat by 58, they still ranked 7th in the league on defense, they just weren’t putting up many points. After the fake punt the Hawks scored 3 points..Yes, 3 points with 12 minutes left to go in the game Matt Flynn in – Wilson, Lynch and all starters were on the bench. I think 2nd youngest team in the league, Seattle is just getting started for us fans. Go Hawks!

  18. Pete Carroll has no class. Running up the score is classless. It will catch up to him. Just ask Belicheck.

  19. Please oh please say the niners have no chance again. To go into a hostile environment in primetime against a hot team in December where nobody wins. Worked out great for us last time. Difference here is RW is great with tons of potential but he is nowhere near Brady. Oh and of course there is the fact that Harbaugh hates Carroll and would never allow them to let off the gas against him. Should be a hell of a game. Possibly the game of the year but those hawks fans guaranteeing a win might want to shut their beaks because Carroll has only beat Harbaugh once in his life and it was their very first college game

  20. How do you know your team IS getting pretty good?

The FortyWhiner fans all show up on a thread about your team! 🙂

It’s just a little bit funny that you guys are on here taking shots at Coach Carroll. The only reason Coach Harbaugh went to Stanford, and then stayed close to come to San Fran was Napa Valley. IT’s the ONLY place on the planet that can give him a run for “king of w(h)ine” title.

PS: You got lucky to pull out that game at The Stick, you won’t get so lucky at Century Link. See ya in 5 days.

  21. Get ready for big boy football this Sunday, kattykathy. You may as well start worrying about…er….trash-talking that other standout rookie QB in Washington.

  22. I guess every teams fans need some feather to put in their hat. Especially the ones with a empty trophy case after 36 years of trying.

  23. Fake punts in the 4th quarter against the Bills when the game was well in hand? Beating a crummy Cardinals teams? That will make you a man!

  24. It will be interesting when they come to Washington to face our Redskins on that opening weekend of the playoffs with us as the #4 seed and the Seahawks as the #5 seed. We will be waiting for a good game to avenge the 2005 and 2007 playoff results. Congratulations on a hell of a pick in Russell Wilson. His rivalry with RGIII over the next decade will be great to watch.

  25. I think the Hawks are an excellent team with just as much chance as any other team that’s going to get into the playoffs and that’s coming from a Niners fan. This game is going to be much more difficult than the Patriots game. Good luck to you Hawks fans but I hope my Niners win!

  26. What a joke. Their coach is desperate for any publicity he can get to cover up for his inevitable first round playoff departure.

  27. You have to be kidding, that team is led by the D and Lynch not Russell Wilson. He’s averaging 174 pass yds a game, ranking 27th in the NFL, how is that leading your team? He’s had a great rookie year, but he hasn’t had anywhere near the best season of the rookie qbs, and he isn’t leading this team. I wish the season ended today, guess who the Hawks would play, the Redskins, and they aren’t the Cards or the Bills. And RG3 will show you hawk fans how a real qb leads a team. I will say I’ve been impresses by Wilson, and he was a steal and I watched him play a lot at NCSU, but he’s not better then Luck or Griffin

  28. My greatest hope is that Seattle has to play sanfran in the postseason and wins then gets to play the Green Bay cry babies and we beat them too just so people will shut up. It’s like it’s the only time any team got screwed by the refs jeez.
    GO SEAHAWKS

  29. Hellllloooo HATERS. THANK YOU FOR CHIMING IN. Good to be relevant all season. To those who somehow think Hawks will get into playoffs due to GB win. U must’ve forgotten the other 15weeks they will play and BTW on that note Hawks beat Vikings, Bears, Cowboys…. ALL teams that are fighting for playoffs. Which means my friends EITHER WAY they would make it fools. Get ahold of reality.

Secondly BACKUPS RAN UP THE SCORE.! IF THAT EVEN HAPPENED! Hawks could have put a smooth 80spot on cards two weeks ago game wasn’t even as close as the score not to mention only 2passes in 4th qtr (by the backup who hasn’t seen any action since week 3 in the preseason) how is that running up the score? They were in FG range on that 4th and 20 should they have kicked fg? Get real, stop hating bc your teams not doing this. Of course this is a fiet. But they aren’t this much better than their opponents. They did that against decent and better than decent teams. Ask the Lions if the cards are the worst team in the league after they whooped that a** this week?

THATS ALL SHE WROTE. GOOD NIGHT TO THE HATERS

  30. OK……everyone calm down. The Hawks are good but the season isn’t over yet. If they crush the 49ers, book them for New Orleans.

  31. lets not get out of control they are good but its not impressive to kill my bills the jets did. and the bills beat the cards……just saying
    =======================
Yes it’s not impressive at all because this happens so much!! LOL! I guess teams would dominate these 2 teams every week. Running up the scare. SHUT UP. It’s not the Seahawks fault the other teams caved in!

I love all the Seahawks bashing because it reeks of jealousy! Blah blah Seahawks cheat blah blah all Seahawks players are on steroids blah blah they’re too physical blah blah they ran the score up blah blah they suck and can’t score. REALLY? Do you people look at what you say? We’ve heard it all, all year and its so funny when the Seahawks are good how many people try to find any irrelevant circumstance and blows it up. Go ahead people. Say the “Seahawks suck”. Chances are we’ll beat your team if we haven’t already while you make up excuses. They might or might not win a Super Bowl this year but it won’t be because some idiot in a blog said so. This young team is just getting started and ill look forward to the hate for many years!

I guess this is the part where you talk about your Super Bowls of past years and remind me the Seahawks are 0-1 followed by the obligatory “stupid Seahawks fan” comment. Stay thirsty my friends!

  32. One and done in the playoffs. And they’re only going to even get that far because of the Replacement Ref gift.

    ——–

Because of the tiebreakers they hold over the other wildcard competitors, they would be in exactly the same spot even with another loss.

  33. The Seahawks really are firing on all cylinders in all three phases of the game right now. They are HAWT, middling opponents or not.

Russell Wilson has been busting down defenses like a boss since the playbook was opened up to him mid-season. Marshawn Lynch is in fine beast mode fashion. Hawks defense is fierce. When Leon Washington is returning your punt, you best not be dozing.

Haters gonna hate but if you’re still whining about the Packers MNF game result and haven’t checked in on the Seahawks the last half of the season, you are missing some rocking football games.

  34. Yeah, because running a fake punt to get 3 points is “running up the score.” Taking back interceptions and fumbles is also “running up the score.”

You need to get out to a secure lead to ensure a win. Does anyone remember that Bills-Oilers game?

  35. Pretty sure the hawks didn’t write the article. It’s just pointing out the historical significance of what they have done the past two weeks.

Btw. Hawks are 3-0 in December. Not sure if that means anything, but it could mean this team is starting to peak at the right time…

  36. Homefield advantage is great but superbowls are played in neutral sites.

Every year 5 teams don’t make the playoffs that did the previous year. Next year the Seahawks will be one of those teams.

  37. Regardless of how good Russell Wilson has been the last 2 games, you can still see his physical limitations. To complete a lot of his his passes, he’s had to roll out of the pocket. I know, I know, Drew Brees isn’t tall either, Wilson does not have Brees’ vision (yet) or offensive scheme. Most competent teams will be able to keep him in the pocket and force him to make big throws.

  38. The Seahawks are playing excellent football over the past several weeks. I am looking forward to the San Francisco game and a possible first round playoff game against Washington. This team is probably not going to the Superbowl but it will be an interesting few weeks. It would be nice if the people on this thread were a bit more mature. It is a good point to note that if the Seahawks had lost the Packers game they would still be the number five seed in the NFC.

Fake punts in the 4th quarter against the Bills when the game was well in hand? Beating a crummy Cardinals teams? That will make you a man!
    —————————————————–

    (to add)

On the other hand, fake punts on 4th and 10 in your own half of the field in NE, in December, where the Pats haven’t lost since 2009, while it’s drizzling ice and running to the side of the field with 2 gunners and still gaining 31 yards…THAT will make you a man.

  40. Let’s see what Hawk fans say after they are eliminated after first round of the playoffs. I know they like to blow their horn now but will they have the ability to look back and realize that Pete Carroll was running up the scores in December so hawk fans get so pumped up that they overlook the playoff lost? I’m bettin’ Petey will accomplish his college level strategy. Beat up the cupcakes, get the crowd behind you so when you lose to the big boys no one will notice.

  41. I think the Packers are hoping for that rematch and we’ll see what kind of “sportsman” Petey is when the Packers run up the score. Keep in mind Petey, what goes around comes around.

  42. Russel Wilson is a beast. Lynch is a beast. The Hawks defenders are beasts. That said…it hasn’t been done for 70 years because coaches that have more class than Pete Carroll take their foot off the gas long before they beat somebody by 50 points. Nobody puts in their backup qb and calls hail mary passes and fake punts when they’re winning by 48. I’m fairly certain that Peyton in his prime would’ve had little problem accomplishing this feat had he not been pulled in meaningless games when he was ahead by 100 points. This is NOT an accomplishment. Just shows Pete Carrolls lack of class…as if his running from college football didn’t already…

  43. So as a Hawks fan, I do see the fake punt to be a little ridiculous. Pete Carrol could have stopped it. It was a special teams formation call by the ST’s captain on the field. That Pete and the ST’s captain verbally regretted. For the running up points, somebody stop us. Its not like we were out there like P. Manning or T. Brady, throwing on every down and taking deep shots at the end zone. We scored 38 points with only 9 pass plays. Brady couldn’t do that on 56 attempts this week. We run that ball probably around 70% of the time. What are we suppose to do. Ask our RB’s to lay down. This week will tell the tale. Everyone’s talking that the 49ers are probably the best team in the league right now and if we can ring up 35+ point on them I’m sure people will be singing a different tune.

  44. Seahawks are overrated.

Case in point, the Lions team I root for beat them and Titus Young torched every PED using DB that team has!

  45. Here’s the REal point with Russell. He’s good but many times he gets a short field to work with thanks to great kickoff and punt returns by Leon. He also gets short fields thanks to the D’s many pics and the fumbles recovered after Sack/fumbles. In short , the Hawks D/special teams is setting a very nice table for Russell to engineer med/short drives that are much more likely to end in TDs than in FGs. LB Irving is the second coming of LT. I’m a 35 year Gmen fan and I know an LT lookalike when I see it.

  46. Seahawks have to beat the best to be the best. They’ll get their chance Sunday. Stop Lynch, win the game. He is the true wizard behind the curtain in Seattle.

  47. I think it’s pretty awesome that the Patriots are 1-3 versus the NFC West this year. I am also a big fan of the parity in the NFL. Every season a couple of different teams go to the playoffs. Unlike baseball where the teams that spent the most money go. Maybe baseball should look at how the NFL does things.

  48. One thing to keep in mind is that if you did this in the mid-80’s or earlier you’d be risking your QB or other key players getting put on IR. You could pretty much have your way with the opposing QB, and the most you’d get was a flag, there were rarely fines or suspensions.

Still I’m sure someone will stick it to Carroll eventually. Maybe it will be Buddy Ryan style where they throw a last second bomb out of the victory formation.

  49. As a Packer fan, the early season loss to the Hawks was a painful one, but as a Wisconsin Badger fan, it has been a real treat to watch the city of Seattle and SeahawkNation embrace Russell Wilson as he continues to blossom into a great NFL quarterback. We got to watch him all last season put on a show in Madison, and its great to see him take it to the next level. Good fortune to you Mr. Wilson and Happy Holidays! 🙂

  50. Wait a minute, didn’t these mighty Seahawks LOSE to the Arizona Cardinals on opening day? And then went on to lose to the Saint Louis Rams next? And also lost to the Detroit Lions and Miami Dolphins too? Seems like they’d worry about the down and out teams they lost to than be thumping their chest about now. Only good team they’ve lost to was the 49ers….

  51. Have to believe all the disrespecting words towards Hawks can only serve to motivate and focus them, which is probably exactly what they need. Keep it comin’!

  52. Did somebody say “Forty Whinner”? Wow, I haven’t heard that since the Niners were dominating back in the 80’s and 90’s… Go Niners!

  53. “yall 49ers fans just mad cuz yall got yall @ss kik”

    _______________________________

    What does that mean…???

  54. Ah, I knew the Seahawk/Pete Carroll haters would come out in droves.

Let’s keep a couple of things in mind – the only other team to beat the Bills with a score of 50 points or greater this year has been the Patriots.
Secondly, who else this year has beaten the Cards with a score of 50 points or greater this year? The answer would be nobody.

In addition, Pete Carroll put in the 2nd stringers in the 3rd quarter against Arizona, and the 2nd stringers were still scoring against the Arizona’s first string. That doesn’t sound like a coach trying to run up the score – the fact is, Arizona couldn’t stop Seattle.

And while I agree that the fake punt was unnecessary, the fake punt wasn’t what caused Seattle to win. Besides, who’s to say that Buffalo couldn’t have come back in that game? The Hawks did struggle with stopping CJ Spiller. We just saw on Sunday how the Pats came back from a 27 point deficit to tie it up before SF won.

Anyhow, the haters will hate. Can’t wait for Sunday night! Go Hawks!

  55. The Seahawks are in fact a very young, inexperienced team that features a number of rookies and retread veterans with a chip on their shoulders and lots of enthusiasm. Coaches have done a fine job blending them together to maximize their strengths and encourage their enthusiasm. Pete Carroll seems to be reluctant to rein them in when things get rolling lest he damp the enthusiasm too much. Overlooked I think is the read/option’s effect, particularly in the Buffalo game, that featured quite a few running yards and several touchdowns by Wilson. Carroll said this week that Wilson is on a short leash when running and even one hard hit could be cause to prohibit his carrying the ball in the future. If they can make the read/option work without injury, it could be a game changing innovation for the Seahawks, and particularly Russell Wilson.

  56. Comparing any offensive stat today to any from other eras is pointless at best. The current rule sets inhibit defensive play to drive up offensive production in an attempt to attract the casual fan in the guise of player safety.

From some of the comments here I would say this initiative has succeeded beyond their hopes.

  57. I guess. I wouldn’t exactly consider the Cardinals and Bills NFL caliber teams at this point in the season though.
Isn’t this kind of like how the average American has 2.5 kids but that’s not exactly true because it’s impossible to have a .5 kid?

  58. The Hawks are looking fantastic right now, no doubt about it. But lets be real here, so far in 4 quarters of play they were only able to put up 6 points against the Niners D. It will probably be a tight, low scoring game where the team who makes the fewest mistakes win.

  59. You can like your team, she can like her team, and you can disagree about that as strongly as you like: that’s what being a fan’s all about.

But the asshat that wrote this–
    “stick to making babies,and worrying.about women’s rights”
    –isn’t a fan.

    He’s not even a man.

Grow up, maroon. Just because you don’t like a team is no cause for switching channels to the “War on Women.” Go back to third grade and “Growing Up To Be A Man 101.” You obviously failed the first five times around.

  60. The Seahawks ‘ran the score up’ with their 3rd string players in. Any team getting beat down by the 3rd string deserves it.

Who really cares about whether scores are ran up anyway!??!? This is not little league where we don’t want to upset the other team. These guys are professionals. They should be trying to score on every possession. Why would anyone feel sorry for a team getting their asses handed to them when the guys taking the beating make millions???

And to all of you out there discrediting the Seahawks for their wins because they were against weak opponents….. Remember this has not happened in a LONG TIME!! Your Patriots, Cowboys, Eagles, Colts, Niners and more have had MANY opportunities to do something similar BUT HAVE NOT.

Credit should be given where it is due. This is definitely a situation where it is due.

  61. I love how comments about the replacement refs are still surfacing 12 weeks later. Unless you’re Aaron Rogers, the rest of us have done our best to get over it, and I suggest you try to do the same.

Hate Pete all you want, but you really need to ask yourself why. He’s positive, passionate and real. If any of us approached our personal or professional lives with such vigor, our families and communities would benefit.

Side note-If you really want to hate on the city of Seattle that much, fine, don’t move here. The traffic on I-5 is bad enough..

  62. Anyone else find it funny that the Cardinals were part of both the Bears and Seahawks dominating twin pack. 70 years and the Cards still suck.

  63. I hope the players heads are as full as their fans because come playoff time they won’t know what hit them…especially when Sherman loses his appeal for his DRUG usage LMAO

  64. I don’t mind the “running up the score” as it’s the defense’s job to stop them but if you are going to bash one coach for it, you should bash the other as well.

Let’s not have a double standard here, one standard will do just fine – George Carlin

  65. Ooh, someone touched a nerve with this article, didn’t they?

Is it Children’s Hour? What’s with all the wailing and crying?

  66. Gotta love how Seahag fans are braggin’ like those obnoxious Pats fans. At least the Pats fans know they have won SOMETHING in the past decade, whereas the Hawks have been perrenial losers. Who else claims they are All World beaters with a 9-5 record???? Like children, they think that saying Go Hawks! means anything in reality. Best guess is they are one-and-done on the road in January.

  67. How many blow outs has there been in the last 2 weeks in the NFL?
The Seahawks are not the only team doing it! This is what happens when teams are out of the playoff hunt and are down afew scores … do you think they are really trying?
Now if the last 2 Seahawks games were playoff games … then you have a story.

Either way 49ers/Hawks will be a great game. Anyone who claims to know the results hasn’t watched these teams play.

  69. I’m not hating on the Hawks, in fact I like watching the Hawks a lot. I just don’t see how beating two poor teams in back to back blowouts constitutes domination not seen in the NFL for over half a century??

Yes the Seahawks are +131 in points scored but that is still less than two other teams so far this season.

    NE in 2007? +315 !

so is it just the best two game stretch in 70 years?

  70. I guess when you have an empty trophy case, the 27th rated QB in the league looks like a Pro Bowler.

    SMH.

    ———
Be honest with yourself, two years ago it WAS the weakest division, you have to agree with that. And NOW, they are better. No one should “eat crow” about a true statement at the time.
Sports are cyclical man. I’m a Pat’s fan and we have been dominate (thankfully) for 10+ years. Well guess what, we sucked before that for a long stretch of time…and we will go through another period of sucking in the future (hopefully not though).

  76. God I love hate. We hawk fans will just continue watching our tough ass, young, chip on our collective shoulder, up and coming team slowly chip away at this thing. We will also continue living in a top city voted year after year as one of the best places to live in America. Keep hating you idiots, we love watching the anger and insecurity. This game vs San Fran is going to be a BRAWL. I hate harbaugh, but even as a hawks fan I LOVE the way the niners play, the niners and hawks play almost the exact same style. I respect the niners, but some of you people talking trash about Seattle and our team are just idiotic sounding. Let the hate go, it’s not healthy.

  77. I find it unbelievably funny how some of you can say they only scored all those points because they were running up the score with fake punts, yet they were already winning 47-17 at that point. I’m sure those 3 extra points really made a difference in the “running up the score” and “total domination” categories. How is it Pete’s fault that the Cardinals can’t stop a career backup QB and a 4th round rookie RB? If you take away the 2 TDs the Bills gift wrapped in the 3rd quarter, there were only 6 points scored on 2 FGs.

Keep crying and hating, though. We don’t want you to like us anyway.

  78. The Hawks success is due to two things – PED’s on defense and Russell Wilson on offense. Take either of them away and they’d be challenging for a Top 5 pick in next year’s draft.

  79. They may have put up good points the last two weeks but what happened before they played these last two games. They lost to the dolphins so how good can they really be?

    Good stuff there!

I guess when you have an empty trophy case, the 27th rated QB in the league looks like a Pro Bowler.

    SMH.

    ——————————————

Where are you getting this stat? Russell Wilson is 8th in the league with a QB rating of 95.5

But sure, make up a stat so it makes you sound better. I hope you had front row seats to see the Seahawks in action last weekend. Eat it.

  82. You don’t lose to the Dolphins and then all of sudden become an elite team. Anyway let’s be honest here……there are NO so-called elite teams in the NFL this season. Any team can lose on any given Sunday. The Texans should have lost to the Jags back in November and have been embarrassed by the top tier teams in the league this season.

  83. The Niners set an NFL record with more than 300 yards rushing and more than 300 yards passing when they played the Bills and the Cardinals? Well, let’s just say they’ve seen better days.

Sunday night will be a real test for both teams. Nobody is going to drop 50 points on the Niners. The Patriots had to put together one of their most potent comebacks against a soft zone to lay 31 on them, and they still lost the game. Both teams are physical. Both teams are good. Both teams need to win. This will be a great game. I’m tired of all this chirping.

You Seahawks fans are in for a rude awakening Sunday night

    …………………………………………………………

A rude awaking like losing by one score at Candlestick? Seahawks with 12th man behind them are a totally different beast. Plus the training wheels have been off Wilson for some time and the offense is opened up. The 49ers are tough but they rank identical in defensive points per game allowed and offensive points per game. Should be a good game but I see Wilson beating Big Bird at Century Link. Go Hawks!

  85. Headline should read “Seahawks got a schedule break to play two of the worse teams in 70 years in back to back weeks”.. hahaha Beacuse that is what really happened here.

  86. I haven’t watch a Seahawk game all year because I just don’t care to watch them. I can’t stand Carroll for what he did to those students at USC so I hope for him to fail. That being said, reading all these comments from Seahawk fans on here about “dynasty” and already claiming the Lombardi is laughable. I’m not saying they don’t have a shot at the superbowl, but your team beat two bad teams by a considerable amount and you clowns are talking dynasty and super bowl winners already? Any given Sunday is all you need to remember. I forsee a one and done for this team if their players are getting the egos that these fans are getting. I guess it has been a while since you guys have been relevant so it’s natural to get your hopes up. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves here. lol You’ll only look like even bigger fools when/if your team falls on it’s face.

  87. Look at all the hate raining down on Seattle. This land of trolls is a very tough crowd.

This is a team that also beat New England, Green Bay, Chicago and Minnesota, and beat Dallas 27-7 and made them quit.

Just like all the fans that come to the Clink running their mouth… only to leave sorry and disappointed in the end… so it shall be for the 49ers on Sunday.

And pray your team is never scheduled to play here.

  88. Please let my boy Russ come back to Wisconsin in January. He can witness being on the other side of Wisconsin teams running up the score against inferior opponents.

  89. Can’t wait to watch the Hawks beat the Niners (#1) with a 45 pts lead… lol… The Cardinals (#25) and the Bills (#23), both are jokes!!!

  90. If Seattle hangs 50 points on Sf and keeps them from scoring, I’d be impressed.
    This one deserves an asterisk.

  91. No doubt they’re playing well but I think this week’s game against the 49ers will tell everyone a lot more about how good the Seahawks are. They certainly look good enough to make the Playoffs, although if the NFL have their way and expand the Playoffs, which I’ve written about on my blog, the Jets would be in the Playoffs as well!

  92. No doubt Wilson and the Seapigeons have been impressive lately but they’re peaking too early. Playoffs are next month. Someone tell Cheaty Petey that he’s not in college anymore and doesn’t have to impress any BCS voters by running up the score.

  93. Wilson is a miraculous quarterback. Even when he throws 2 picks on one drive and doesn’t actually complete a single pass, they still score a TD!

  94. lets just say come sunday against the Niners.. it doesn’t have to be 50, lets just say if they rack up more than 30 points- i will become a believer and go get me a chickenhawk jersey for my 8yr old.

  95. Oh and btw, the Seahawks AREN’T undefeated at home. They can thank the replacement refs for that.

Biggest challenge for SF is Kaep using a silent count, which he used 50+ times in New Orleans.

  96. The infrequency of the Seahawks’ accomplishment defines it as special.

If it’s so easy to score 50+ on two consecutive bad teams in the NFL, then why didn’t it happen in over 70 years?

Does it mean they will beat New England or San Francisco? No.

But what they achieved in the past two games still remains remarkable.

    So suck it.

  97. You losers fail to realize that how very little it happens is the remarkable thing. Wasn’t New England’s Offense ridiculous in 2007, and yet they didn’t accomplish that even though they had a couple good setups playing a 1-win Miami team twice and a 4-win Jets team twice, and those games were back to back and the mighty Patriots only cleared them by a combined 31 points. It doesn’t mean the Seahawks will win the SB, they haven’t even made the playoffs yet. They are flawed (like everyone) and haven’t played amazing on the road all season, and their D has even failed them a couple times with the lead in the 4th (Detroit, Miami). But, don’t detract from a remarkable accomplishment, it is like Haley’s comet, you probably won’t see it again in your lifetime.

  98. oh yeah, and before you hawk fans start saying that the hawks still scored 30 pts more than the niners did on those two games.. well, the niners werent trying to run up the score by running fake punts while winning by 30 and then the HC come out saying that he feels bad for doing it.. LMAO!

    —————————————————-

So you’re saying that the Seahawks gave them a whooping so badly that they felt bad about it? Well you sure made the Seahawks look like a terrible team. /sarcasm

  99. I’m loving the hate against the Seahawks. Don’t remember this much since 2005. When you root for a team that has gone through as many dark days as my beloved Seahawks you really never hear anything from opposing fans. During the Holmgren/Mora transition, Seahawk articles on this site never got more than 10 comments total, and it was always from hardcore Hawk fans talking each other down from a ledge.

When you hear hate, you know good things are happening. To be honest, I didn’t expect any of that this season. Didn’t think we were that good until the last 5-6 weeks, when our team has basically just taken off and Russell has really developed into a special player. But still wasn’t expecting the love (from the national media) and the hate (from other fans).

But what I love most of all about this Hawks team is something I have NEVER seen in Seattle. That kid Russell Wilson has this team really believing in itself. In interviews with the players, you can see they are all legitimately excited to be playing on this team. They believe in each other and they especially believe in this young QB. Even in 2005, we didn’t have this energy. That’s why the 2005 squad lost XL. It wasn’t the bad calls. It was how they couldn’t recover from those bad calls.

Russell Wilson may not win a SuperBowl this season, but he will win one. This team is young, mean, and hungry as hell, and led by a kid who epitomizes “scrappy winner” unlike any QB I’ve seen since John Elway back in the mid-80’s. This team doesn’t care what anyone thinks or does. We’re going to beat you up and take that win no matter what. And we definitely aren’t going to apologize or lay down like everyone seems to want us to do this season. And I just love that. I honestly love that multiple times this season there has been a firestorm of pundits and fans crying and screaming about our coach celebrating too much, our players playing too hard, our team putting up too many points. I LOVE IT.

If it’s so easy to score 50+ on two consecutive bad teams in the NFL, then why didn’t it happen in over 70 years?

    ——————————————————–
Because nobody tries for this “record”. If this was an important achievement for teams, then you wouldn’t see teams kneeling on the 5 yard line or running the ball to drain the clock. If teams actually went into the season with the goal of getting back to back 50 point games it would have happened several times since then.

  101. Seattle is a good team but they have to improve away from home turf. I know they just beat Chicago but they barely escaped Carolina and lost to Arizona earlier in the year.

  102. The problem with those 50 point blowout wins – they count the same as a 1 point win and points cannot be carried over.

MEANING: Come playoff time, what happened in those games will mean nothing in those games. They won’t get extra credit because they were hot offensively for two games a month earlier.

That being said, nothing should be taken away from the outstanding performance and effort.

  103. Seahawks run a fake punt after their back up qb, back up running back and most other back ups are in the game and thats running up the score. Those 3 points they got sure were the difference maker.

Man who would have thought that a single field goal changes the fact that they were up gobs of points and went up further with their second and third stringers in.

And fact of the matter is that yes, it was two terrible teams, but the seahawks did something that hasnt been done in over 60 years and thats absolutely demolish 2 teams consecutively. Does that mean they are gonna win the super bowl. No, but it doesnt change the fact that scoring over 100 points in a 2 game span is damn impressive.

You forgot the EXTRA SPEAKER in Brady’s helmet giving him info up to the snap, and the opponents headsets going out at Foxboro. All you have to do is look at the Patriots against the spread during those years and you will find your proof. Vegas can predict EVERY team in Pro/College sports but not the Pats?
    ————————————————-

People who not only believe these random and confusing ideas, but actually take the time to write them …. I find them frightening. I hope they don’t live in my town.
    ————————————————–
Saw your comment late but still wanted to give you a response. Considering there was no investigation and the evidence was destroyed at the scene of the crime the only proof is ideas that are what I don’t consider “random and confusing” at all. Bryan O’Leary wrote a quality book breaking this down. I would guess there are a lot of people in your town who question what the establishment tells them and does their own research. Some people are frightened by what they don’t understand, kind of like a dog and a vacuum cleaner. But Goddell would never lie to you….right?

  105. Wow Seahawks look scary good right now. 3 blow out games in a row. Who wants to go against them in the playoffs? Maybe a good D will slow them down. Oh that’s right the #1 D in the NFL couldn’t stop them from putting up 42 points on them. Next.

  106. I laugh looking over all the above comments. None of the niner fans, who left gutless comments before the game, are commenting on how the Seahawks handed it to the 49ers on a platter. Both teams are excellent teams… but I’d rather play the 49ers than the Seahawks in the playoffs. The Seahawks are in the Zone and the funny thing is the rest of the country doesn’t know it. America’s football fans only acknowledge the big-market, East coast teams. Too bad, they’re missing a lot of great football.
