When a new Coach come to a team, he always trys to bring a former plater with him to help “sell” his schemes; Bart Scott was that person(from Baltimore).
Scott was completely overpaid from the outset and he is NOW no longer needed, even at a discount.

Uh, no. The Jets are not a prestigious franchise. They’re just located in the media center of the world. The Giants are prestigious. The Patriots are prestigious. The Steelers are prestigious. The Cowboys, sadly, are still considered prestigious. The Packers are prestigious.

The problem with the Jets is that they got old. In 2007, they lost 12 games and appeared headed nowhere. Tannenbaum’s job was on the line, so he spent like mad and traded away picks to improve the team immediately—and it worked. They had winning records the next three seasons (08, 09, and 10) and went to the AFC Championship game twice.

But many of the players on those teams got old, and the Jets didn’t have the draft picks—or the draft acumen to replace them. Now they’re stuck paying big salaries to guys who aren’t worth it anymore.

1) why would he want to stay at a reduced salary?
Because he’s not worth what they are paying him.
2) If he is any good why would they cut him and risk another team picking him up.
Because they do not think he’s worth what they are paying him.

3) if he isn’t as good as he used to be, why keep him in At all?
Because he isn’t worth what they are paying him.

Bottom line, he isn’t worth what they are paying him and should cut him and not hope they get him back.
