A couple of Ravens players have lighter wallets right now thanks to fines handed out by the league for penalties they received in last week’s loss to the Broncos.
The league has confirmed that wide receiver Anquan Boldin and cornerback Cary Williams have each been fined $15,750 for delivering late hits during the fourth quarter of the 34-17 loss. Boldin blocked Broncos corner Chris Harris to the ground after a play was over to pick up his flag. Coach John Harbaugh took issue with the notion that Boldin did anything wrong, but the NFL clearly didn’t see eye to eye with the Ravens coach.
Harbaugh didn’t offer up any defense for Williams, who hit wide receiver Eric Decker after the Bronco was clearly out of bounds.
“Cary’s was late. Cary’s was out of bounds and late. Cary would be the first to tell you that was a mistake,” Harbaugh said, via Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun.
The Ravens will try to avoid further fines and a fourth straight loss against the Giants on Sunday.
