At the end of the day, he’s still a loser on a loser team.

I’d rather my team win and not have monster stats vs losing and having monster stats.

This IS why Barry quit folks. Eventually Calvin will get fed up and quit as well.

Lets wait a few more years before we call him the best ever. Racking up yards in a team that passes over 50 times a game in a league that has rules in place to favor offensive players is one thing. Plying big in big games us another thing. Johnson choose to stay in Detroit so we may never know how he would do in big time games. Remember, this is an 11 loss team and there is no reason why they won’t continue to be a last place team.

Johnson is a great talent, but football has changed a lot since Jerry Rice dominated the NFL. I’d take Jerry every day and twice on Sunday.

hey EJ IMO a complete wideout is one that will run block as well without google can u name the 49ers RB when rice was there in dallas it was emmit smith so i think irvin was better than rice or megatron and ward is right up there also

Formerly held by Jerry Rice. Michael Irvin was a dominant receiver, but not in the same category as Johnson or Rice. Irvin had one of the most accurate and strong armed QB’s in Aikman, but in the same light Jerry Rice had ultra accurate Joe Montana and the do it all QB in Steve Young.
Calvin Johnson remains dominant, even though his QB, Stafford is slightly above average, but injured a lot. That is why If Johnson plays out the rest of his career at this same level, then I would make it Johnson, Rice, Irvin, Reed then Sharpe. IMO.”

Rice, Irvin, Reed and Sharpe also played in a time where catching the ball wasn’t as easy as it is now. Irvin played in a run heavy offense the year he broke that consecutive games with 100 yards in route to a super bowl.

Johnson is playing on a team where Stafford is going to break a record for most pass attempts in a season on a losing football team constantly passing to keep up with other teams.

Megatron is definately on path to the HOF, but don’t discredit the receivers before him because being a receiver in todays game is NOT the same as it was 20 years ago.

I’ve enjoyed watching Andre Johnson here in Houston over the past nine seasons. Calvin Johnson’s a lot like Andre, both in terms of personality and skill.

Scary thing is: Calvin appears to be even better than Andre.

I think I speak for a few thousand people when I say the only reason I’m watching this game is because of 81. Just awesome.

EJ: Stafford is one game away from playing two straight seasons, 33 games in a row. Just because his first 2 years were rough injury wise, doesn’t mean he is ‘injured a lot’

However, he did not become Megatron until Cris Carter said he was not a top 5 wide receiver in the NFL. I guess that motivation worked for Calvin.
