Instead of being 28 million under the cap next year, the Chiefs and Bengals will be 28 1/2 million under the cap.

Yeah, but I doubt Gene Upshaw would have went for this. The players are enduring the pain of this deal with no grease for 3 season. That’s the length of the average NFL players career. It still seems odd compared to BB and NBA contracts in leagues that generate less money. Yearly revenue NFL $11B, MLB $7B, NBA $4.3B

So happy the owners took the union to the cleaners. Money shouldn’t be equal between players and owners. If the players wanna quit and take their millions and start a new league and grow it then they can divvy it up equally amoungst themselves. If they don’t then they are an employee and need to fall in line

KIR…. No one puts a gun to their heads or a knife. They play with full recognition that running into somebody as fast as they can cause physical pain if they don’t maybe they should have paid attention a little more in school. Me for one I’m glad the owners got over on the NFLPA. The NFLPA was stupid for taking money away from the cowboys & redskins because they actually spend money where the chiefs, bengals, & the rest of the owners who don’t spend money. So did the players benefit from taking money from the 2 teams that spend. NFLPA DeMorris Smith got played by the owners. What a moron.

I may be wrong, but I don’t think any of that $40 billion is paid to the NFL until the 2014-2015 season. This season and next season are paid under the old TV contract.

Look at the empty seats. Ticket prices are out of control. Going to an nfl game has changed from a family affair to a corporate world with companies holding psl’s to wow customers. It’s a status symbol to have season tickets to many teams.
Fan attendance is going down. The tv contract is already signed meaning that money is guaranteed and the best way to add to the pot now is sell more tickets.
Sorry nfl but you have priced so many families from the in game experience and this will only create a generation of children who have never been to a game or understand the in game experience. In 15 years these children that have become couch nfl fans are not going to be rushing out to buy tickets as they have never attended a game. It’s a product of your own greed.
300-500 for a family of 4 to spend 3 hours at a game
78.38 is the average ticket price in the nfl. That’s a min of 300 for a family of four for an “average” ticket. Does that sound like a number the average family can afford for 3 hrs. This don’t count parking, food, etc.
