The three rookie QBs, Wilson, Griffin and Luck, are giving AP a run for the MVP.
Peterson is definitely the Vikings team MVP, but I don’t think he should be the NFL MVP–unless he breaks the rushing record.

Thank you, couldn’t have said it better myself…As a Bears fan, I’d like to see AP win it, he is single-handedly keeping the Vikes in the race, while Megatron has killer stats on a 4-12 (after next week) team. And the people calling AP selfish are way off base, he was laughing when he made the comment.

There’s a good reason that QBs usually take this award. They are asked to do more. I think Peyton Manning deserves the award for his leadership, the way he checks off at the line and for his general numbers.

The difference in the Colts with and without him and the difference in the Broncos with and without him shows that he is an extremely valuable player.

With the way the remaining schedules look the Vikings won’t be going to the playoffs and the Broncos will have a first round bye. That’s called results…

if AD gets the vikings into the playoffs then he should be the mvp. If not I would have to say brady should get the nod. no offense to peyton manning but who has he beaten this year? He’s beat up on a bunch of weak teams and a banged up baltimore defense last week. those 3 losses? Against the 3 of the best teams in the nfl. If AP doesn’t win it give it to Brady. He deserves it more.

Have you seen Watt play ? Take him out of that defense , the texans are average. He lines up all over the field and is the most disruptive player on defense. The arrogance of people to complain about AP’s lack of humility! Is he the best RB this season? yes! Is he the best player this season? If he breaks 2k, yes sir! What good does humility do? If it wasn’t for him talking about his goals he’d get over looked for a QB. Plus, he has earn the right to thump his chest. I feel sorry for those who are bothered by his confidence. I think there are more deserving players. There’s more to MVP than stats. You have to take into account the team’s record, the rest of the team and how they gel together. I mean, there is so much more to MVP than just being a monster at your position.
Don’t get me wrong, he’s amazing, but I don’t see his team where they need to be in order for him to get this kind of an award.

Gotta love all the people who comment about how selfish AD is or how they are losing respect for him.

Do you guys not realize he’s answering questions about the record or about being MVP in interviews?

What is he supposed to say? No, I don’t want the recrord… No, I don’t want the MVP…

He is and always has been a team first kind of guy, the quotes being used as headlines here are extremely misleading and people are thinking he’s going out of his way to make these comments. He’s just answering direct questions.

And as a poster said a little earlier people look into the definition of MVP to much. Regardless of what MVP stands for by definition it is an award given to the best player in the game during the year. Thats why it is the biggest award for the year. Its not for the most valuable player to a specific team, again it is for the best player in the game.

Wow you just showed how truly dumb you are. Comparing a running backs YPC to a Qbs YPA. By the end of this season Adrian Peterson will have one of the 5 single best seasons by a running back in the history of the NFL, and could very well have the best YPC ever for a season. Your entire post is so ridiculous and makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. To compare a QBs stats against a RBs stats is the most idiotic comparison anyone can make.

Peterson has 433 more yards than the closest RB. Its not even close in the running back category. Richardson has the same amount of TDs as Peterson so you are incorrect there while his YPC is almost a full 3 yards less. Arian Foster has only 3 more TDs with 36 more carries on the year while averaging 2.3 less YPC. Try and skew crap all you want but your argument holds absolutely no leverage at all. You are an idiot.

Tom Brady rattles off 28 points in not even a full quarter’s worth of time against the top defense in the league (just as an example), and he’s not mentioned as the possible MVP? Without him, the Patriots are still a good team, but not a team favored to win the Super Bowl…He makes that team run and provides that spark they have to do what they do…Peyton Manning is great and all, but the Broncos are as good as they are because of their defense; they were able to win 8 games last year with a QB that couldn’t even throw, so how much value exactly does Peyton provide to his team? I’d argue the defense is more deserving of any MVP considerations for the Broncos…And I hate how the MVP becomes an award people want to give to the person with the best stats…AP can wrack up all the stats he wants, but at the end of the day if he can’t carry his team to the playoffs, then I think someone who can deserves the award more than he does…It’s Most VALUABLE Player, not best-performing player, and I think Tom Brady and Peyton Manning should get more consideration than Peterson…LT won the award when he did because of his stats and the fact that he led the Chargers to the #1 seed and the best record in the league

NFC North has some of the leagues best players and should end up owning some of the most coveted records in the NFL.

Rodgers breaks the all time Passer rating record last year.

Calvin Johnson will break the single season recieving record this year.

Adrian Peterson could break the single season rushing record this year

Brandon Marshall will or already has broken the record for most receptions in a season.

Randall Cobb may break the single season all purpose yardage record.

All in one division, thats crazy.

I understand that Peyton Manning is having a great year. calvin Johnson is having a record breaking type year too. but in my opinion A.P is the MVP and im not even a Vikings fan. This guy has no help on this team whatsoever. He came back insanely fast from a tough knee injury to have an all time season for a RB. Im not sure that he will break Dickersons record, but in my opinion no one means more to his team this year than this guy. If it wasnt for him this team would be total garbage. He is almost unstoppable and definitley is my pick for M.V.P

Great player and he’s having a great season… but he sseems so commited to padding his stats and breaking that record just to get the award… Kind of cheapens it a little bit when all his focus is breaking the record and talkin about the mvp award while his team is in the thick of a playoff race. If he talked about winning the next 2 games and making the playoffs as much as he’s talked about the MVP race, maybe Id think higher of him.

Peterson should get the MVP, if only because his role on his team is more difficult than the role Peyton fills on his team. The Broncos are good, even if Peyton weren’t there. The Vikings would have nothing without Peterson. The two of them are the main contenders. Even when the Packers stop him 100 yards short of the record and end the season for the Vikings (if they are fortunate enough to get past the Texans,) he should still get it. I hope he does get the record, as long as the Packers win next week.

I’m not trying to pour haterade on AP’s parade, but the Vikings are only 6-4 this season in games he rushed for more than 100 yds, and he only has 11 rushing TDs. The award is still supposed to be for the Most Valuable Player, which is why RBs would almost never win. It would hard to argue against a QB who has thrown for 30+ TDs, and has guided his team to a 11-3 record.

If anything that 49ers game dropped Brady down a notch in the MVP race. Also when Brady didn’t play that 1 season Matt Cassel took them to a 10-6 record if memory serves me correctly and we know what Matt Cassel has done since so that shows where Brady ranks this year behind AD. Manning is also on a very good team if Adrian Peterson doesn’t win it this year whether he breaks the record or not the whole MVP thing is a sham. Also Aldon Smith isn’t nothing without Cowboy. But I’m sure his production would drop off without Cowboy taking on double teams for him to sneak by and get the QB. We’ll see if Justin Smith doesn’t play this week. Also how was Aldon’s production after Smith was pulled from the game last Sunday? I’m not sure but it’s worth a look.
