Ravens put McClain on IR, elevate Hamilton

The roster move that many thought would be made to add linebacker Ray Lewis to the active roster has been made.

But Lewis wasn’t added to the active roster.

The Ravens have placed linebacker Jameel McClain on injured reserve, due to a spinal contusion suffered on Sunday against the Broncos.  His place has been filled by linebacker Adrian Hamilton, who was elevated from the practice squad.

While Lewis reportedly won’t play until the postseason, the Ravens must add him to the roster within three weeks after he returned to practice from injured reserve or shut him down for the year.

Since he returned to practice on Wednesday, December 5, the deadline for activating Lewis is Wednesday, December 26, regardless of whether he plays in Week 17.

He suffered the injury against the Redskins not the Broncos.
