Mendenhall will be active for Steelers

After what was certainly “a lot of thought,” Steelers coach Mike Tomlin is letting Rashard Mendenhall out of the doghouse.

The pending free agent running back, who was suspended after bailing on his team the week before, will be active for today’s game against the Bengals, according to ESPN’s Josina Anderson.

This will be the first time he’s dressed for a game since Nov. 25 in Cleveland, when two fumbles in four carries led to a benching, which led to the drama.

How he responds will give some degree of signal as to whether he has any future in Pittsburgh, though his recent comments make that seem like a long shot.
