Scott Chandler placed on injured reserve with knee injury

Bills tight end Scott Chandler won’t be part of the season-ending Misery Bowl between the Bills and Jets.

Chandler has been placed on injured reserve after injuring his knee during Sunday’s 24-10 loss to the Dolphins. The Bills are only calling it a “serious” knee injury and haven’t said what specifically happened to Chandler’s knee. If it is a torn ACL, as reported by Adam Schefter of ESPN, Chandler’s chances of being ready to go by the start of next season could be in doubt even as Adrian Peterson scoffs at such timelines.

If it is that kind of “serious,” it’s a tough blow for a player who has made great strides over the last two years. Chandler ends the year with 43 catches for 571 yards and six touchdowns. The catches and yards are the most in his three-year career and he now has 12 touchdowns over the last two seasons. It’s not All-Pro stuff, but it’s a reliable and productive target in a Buffalo passing game that doesn’t have a lot of them. Chandler is signed for next year at just over $2 million.

What came first, the music or the misery . . .

Big fan of Chandler actually. If he comes back healthy then the next Bill’s quarterback will at least have a nice safety blanket. Also, handing off to Spiller is a good way to start your career.

Sucks for Scott. He’s not super productive, but he’s a machine on third down and makes insane catches from terrible passes. Hope he gets healthy for next year.

This is a bummer. Hard working guy, good teammate, good player. We Bills fans love ya Scott Chandler, best well wishes!
