This was a good thing to highlight. It's things like this that will always separate a guy like Manning (lets just say a top tier qb), from a guy like Vick (a guy who people call top tier but has never even had a thought like what we just read).

Doesn't matter if D Coordinators listen or not. There are openings in any D, Pmann is the master at finding them. Basically just saying he checks the slot/end first. nothing more.

Sure Peyton. Tamme. Right. I suspect a lot of Defensive coordinators will fall for this. It’s like a good magician, I think. He has you looking at his left hand, while he’s doing something totally different with his right. While Manning will have all these Defences looking at Tamme, the 4th option, he’ll be killing them everywhere else.

Peyton is not being disingenuous here, either. You see it every game. He starts out by seeing how they key on the outside guys, which frees up Tamme underneath. He hits that a few times, then the outside stuff to Decker and Thomas opens up, and also gives Moreno room to run. This is why he's the smartest QB in the NFL. Eli obviously hasn't learned a thing, because he's been 0-4 in games versus teams that Peyton mopped the floor with, and looked awful in each one of them, I might add.

Great insight into the mind of the Chess Master. Thanks for posting that!

I think it's pretty similiar to when Dalls Clark was in his prime in Indy. Matchup nightmare. Defenses got caught in unfavorable personnel groupings depending if they stayed base or nickel and dimed Clark. Peyton then hammered them with no huddle plays that exploited the physical mismatch, so they couldn't get out of it.

With the explosion of Flexed Y-guys( Hernandez, Graham, Gronkowski etc), I wonder if the next chess piece to evolve might be the slot guy/college scat back type that can motion into a rb role out of an empty set. With the success that Cobb, Harvin, McCluster, and Woodhead have had in a similiar scenarios, I wonder if that opens up possibilities for a guy like WVU's Tavon Austin to be drafted higher by a no huddle type team?

Have all of these pats loving idiots forgotten how close the game was IN NEW ENGLAND this year? And that prior to the neck beard and the full back with the inaccurate duck launcher, Denver owned New England? Just out of curiosity, raiderlyfe, who ended the pats string of like 12 consecutive playoff wins? I'll give you a hint since you're probably too dumb to use google: Champ Bailey had a 99 yard interception return as the pats were going in to score in that game. Careful what you wish for pats & raider fans...

wewantmoretebowandfavrearticles says: Dec 25, 2012 10:06 AM

No. Dressen and Virgil Green have came in and relieved Tamme all year. Tamme’s role in the Broncos offense is vastly overstated and Tamme is the 4th or 5th receiving threat behind Thomas, Decker, Stokely, and the RB. When Stokely was out Tamme did fill that void but to sing Tamme’s praises as a key to the Broncos success is not accurate.
-------------------------------------------------------------
I think I'd be inclined to believe Peytons take on this.

Riiiiight. . . because you know more than Peyton Manning. What team do you play for again?

Wow, doesn't look like anyone at PFT took the day off. Hopefully they're only working half days or don't observe the holiday.

Anyway.. I personally believe that the Broncos success begins and ends with their defense. I think Manning, even on a bad day, can keep them in and possibly win a game as long as it is within reach late in the 4th quarter.

I hope the AFC Championship game comes down to the Colts and Broncos.. and the NFC Championship comes down to the Redskins and Seahawks... how much fun would that make Championship weekend to watch???? Not sure if the seedings will allow it, but I can't wait! I want Wild Card weekend to start RIGHT NOW!

Apparently, you missed the point. None of those things are in dispute. What PM is saying, is when an opponent dedicates a certain defender against this particular fellow, it sometimes makes them weak somewhere else, and opens up opportunities for others. It's a "team" comment, not an individual one.
