OK, the dominating defenses all year part may have been a bit of an exaggeration but it’s just been a long time since us Seahawk fans have had a dynamic QB to get excited about. Definitely not a bandwagon fan, Hawks have been my team since I’ve been in diapers.

Great response! It's true, other than 1984ish and 2005 we haven't had too much to get excited about! The idea that we might have a legitimately great quarterback for years to come gets us long suffering Seahawks fans downright giddy!!! So excuse us if we lose track of reality here and there...most of us mean well!

Chris Clemons was pretty much a bust before he came to Seattle. Often times getting into the right system and locker room can make a big difference. It is not a bad thing for a player to feed off of the guys beside him. Since football is a team sport, that is what you are looking for. Schneider isn't afraid to give gives like TO and Braylon Edwards extended looks. If Ray Edwards is not be a factor until next year, that would be good enough.

Everyone calls Pete Carroll a "players coach" he is up to a point. As long as you work hard mentally and physically Carroll is there being the rah rah coach, patting you on the back etc. BUT, if you don't bring your "A" game every week, Carroll would not hesitate on cutting you loose. (see TJ Houshmandzadeh)

The Seahawks have a very strong veteran locker room with great team leaders. I know that the Falcons have the same thing, but maybe Edwards got too comfortable in there hearing the same messages everyday. This is a low risk chance that the Seahawks can afford to make. The Falcons are on the hook for most of his salary anyway. Like the saying goes: " in Pete we trust"

“I guess Russell Wilson will suddenly stop dominating defenses like he’s done all year. ”

You must not have been watching Wilson earlier in the year. While he’s played great recently, he had several poor games earlier in the year.

Now that you’ve jumped on the Seahawks bandwagon, you should go watch video recaps of Wilson’s games against Arizona in week 1 (QB rating of 65), St. Louis in week 4 (0 TDs, 3 INTs, QB rating of 45), and San Francisco week 7 (QB rating of 38).

How do you bring in a guy to "provide information" when he wasn't there long enough with the new coordinators? He doesn't have any information. He knows nothing and was only a "great player" because of Jared Allen.

Yeah, Great pick up? No one else wanted him, yet he is supposed to be a good addition to the roster? In the NFL, if a player is out of the game when they think they still have some gas in the tank, they arent productive enough anymore to use a roster spot on.

Edwards isnt playing because there are 200 better DEs in fron of him in the NFL.

beastmode5150 says: Dec 26, 2012 1:43 AM

After all the brilliant moves, draft picks, etc, I still find it mind boggling that people doubt John Schneider and Pete Carrols’ talent evaluation.

*****************************************

Sure, yeah...traded for Charlie Whitehurst. Signed Matt Flynn (pointlessly as it turns out). Braylon Edwards...he was there for five minutes, yeah?

Now, I'm not saying that they haven't done a great job in Seattle, but don't go getting pompous and ignorant of the fact that they've had less to lose in many senses and some gambles have paid off with players that were slightly radioactive (Marshawn Lynch was damaged goods after Buffalo - though he is a great, great RB) or under the radar (Russell Wilson).

They are definitely a team no one wants to play in the postseason. Even as a Falcons fan I can say that. But Ray Edwards showed NOTHING in Atlanta. If the move pans out for them, sure, it'll look brilliant but it's not as if the Falcons didn't give him every opportunity to produce. I mean, he was playing on a line with John Abraham who, while in decline, is still a threat. All he was doing was collecting a paycheck.

Good luck Seahawks - sincerely. If Atlanta can't get it done, I hope that y'all do.

Seattle are such a likable team, I mean how could you dislike them?"

Really? Let's start with: (1) Pete Carroll is a dirty college coach who ran to the NFL to avoid fines and suspension; (2) overly arrogant DBs who hold on every play and dope; and (3) a bunch of idiotic over-zealous fans who have been claiming in earnest that the team has been a super bowl contender every year since 1996 (the earliest I was exposed to that dumb ass fan base in full). How am I doing here? Should I go on? I can.

Just a depth signing to bolster the pass rush since Jason Jones went on IR. He may not be any good, but I doubt he will be worse than Hebron Fangupo, whose roster spot he will likely take. No need to make a big story out of this. JS would not sign a guy just because he may have "inside information" on the Falcons defense.

Edwards was known as the least liked Viking player by staff and outsiders when he was with the Vikes, lived off the double teams of Allen and Williams, thought he was the best right DE in the league, and was a bust in Atlanta. There's a good reason he's still out there. Then again, he oughta fit right in on that Seahawks team.

I would not get too excited over this, Seahawks fans. The guy has an attitude and only thinks of himself. That's cancerous and the last thing your locker room needs when you guys are playing excellent football.

Big mouth Richard Sherman. Entire team still refuses to acknowledge that the Golden Tate hail mary "catch" was a lie and should have been an interception. Pete Carroll kind of an arrogant butthead....

Sorry Hawks fans. I like an underdog as much as the next guy buy you asked.

One of the most overrated players in the league. Edwards benefited in Minnesota playing next to 3 probowl linemen. He was the 4th best out of the 4 of them. He is average at best. He had a couple of decent games but the one that stood out was in the Dallas - Minnesota playoff game. However, he's all mouth. He is the one that said he could reach the single season sack record yet he's never had double digit sacks in the regular season. Even with playing next to 3 probowl linemen. He's more of a headache than what he's worth. Way to throw a cancer cell in your team locker room Seattle. You'd be better off without him.
