Congrats to AJ Green and Geno Atkins!
No James Jones?…
no way Cruz should get in before Dez.
Not Ryan Lindley?
Why is Alfred Morris not on this?
Wow!!!!! No Roddy White……..
Drew Brees wants an explanation!
wow, no eagles players.
No Falcon safety…easily the best safety tandem in the league.
I mean Gonzalez…fail.
London Fletcher??? compare the stats…Cmon man!!!!
Dez Bryant over Cruz
No players from the number one ranked defense?
YEAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH PHIL DAWSON!!!!!!!
This roster is a mess. I’m a Packers fan and… JEFF SATURDAY? He just got benched! The Pro Bowl voting process is a joke that is upstaged only by the playing of the game itself!
Clay Mathews is pretty undeserving imo. Not that he isn’t good he’s just been hurt for a good chunk of the season.
Grats to all those that made the opening roster. Some I would not have picked simply based on their performance this particular season (Jeff Saturday who lost his starting job is one example) but all are great players. Chris Clemons is probably the one person that should have made it and didn’t. The guy is a disruptive force and well deserving.
Wait, must be a typo. Dont see Flacco on the list.
Harrison Smith got robbed.
Looks like quite a few Seahawks were mistakenly overlooked. That’s okay…they will be busy packing for New Orleans anyway.
Jason Pierre-Paul made it? For what?
Cliff Avril has done more than him but he doesnt make it. Not saying HE deserves to, but come on.
And Jeff Saturday? The guy just got benched!
Jim Harbaugh im assuming made the PB for the whiniest and most unclassy coach.
I think the only raider that shoulda been voted was marcell reece, happy to see 6 or the defensive starters for the mtv being niners, so if we don’t go to the superbowl, at least ill have fun watching the “exciting” probowl haha
Kinda surprised Kam Chancellor got overlooked. Good for Max Unger, though. Definitely deserves a bit of a nod.
San Francisco well represented with 9 players. A few more than the Seahawks.
Dez Bryant > Victor Cruz
Man, why tease us chiefs fans by putting tony Gonzalez as a member of the chiefs still…not cool. On a serious note, Jamaal Charles should be starting for the pro bowl.
Jeff Saturday of the Packers??!!?? Come on man! Dude is used up, Sullivan of the Vikings deserved it. AD didn’t get those yards all alone. Matt Kalil should have made it too!
No way JPP deserves it with 6.5 sacks. Sorry
Jeff Saturday named to the Pro Bowl as an NFC center but yet he isn’t starting for Green Bay ??
The fact that Saturday made the probowl after being benched last week is proof enough that the voting system is awful. Berry has been down right bad the entire year until the past 2 weeks.
Julio Jones in but Roddy White out? Wow.
88 receptions 1311 yards 12 tds, not taking anything away from b marsh or megatron both had phenomenal seasons , but come on Dez Bryant should of been a no brained over victor Cruz
Can someone please tell me how Victor Cruz made the pro bowl? He barely has over 1,000 yards and he has 9 touchdowns, but somehow people think that is better than what Dez Bryant has. Dez has over 1,300 yards and 12 touchdowns, and the past two games he has had to play through a broken finger. Roddy White has even had a better season than Cruz! It just goes to show that the people who vote on the Pro Bowl, don’t know very much about the game and just vote for the most popular players or the ones they actually recognize. I mean only one player from the Seahawks defense? Just because you don’t recognize a player’s name, doesn’t mean they don’t deserve to be in the pro bowl.. smh
No Russell Wilson?????
Wow, this just proves the Pro Bowl is a complete joke.
NFC’s defense is gonna be pretty hurt up if the 49ers make the Super Bowl
Pro bowl voting starts & ends too early
7 NFC starters for the Niners?!?! 8 if you consider a 3-4 alignment.
NOW we get to wait for the ever important list of players that want to drop off AND the list of players who get in undeservingly
I think the Falcons safety tandem is superior to the 49ers. Moore is injured now but DeCoud has been a beast.
Clay Matthews has only played 9 games and has like 12 or 13 sacks. And he’s been a disruptive force batting down balls, chasing down ball carriers. This has been his best season IMO when he’s out there. He deserves it.
Wow! Chiefs 5 pro bowlers, 2 wins…Impressive
Frank Gore over Alfred Morris is a traveshamockery…which is what the probowl is anyway.
No Chad Greenway!!?? He has been 1st or 2nd in tackles the entire season. Clay Mathews has been hurt a good chunk of it. Mathews does not deserve it this year. The voting process sucks!
It’s an absolute tragedy that C.J. Spiller didn’t get a Pro Bowl spot. He trailed Arian Foster by 143 yards and had 152 less carries. He trailed Jamaal Charles by about 300 yards and had about 100 less carries. He actually has more yards than Ray Rice, despite 71 less carries. Absolute tragedy. How can you leave out a man that averages 6.5 yards per carry with just under 200 carries for the season. People can say all they want about him not being able to have a full running back work load. He ran the ball 22 times last week against Miami and rushed for 138 yards on a 6.2 average (close to his season average). People need to be ashamed of themselves. This is nothing more than a popularity contest by NFL Fantasy owners. Absolute tragedy.
It’s hard for Dez to get selected when 1/4 of your stats came 3 days ago.
Way to go buffalo….50 million for super Mario……and no pro bowl
Congrats to Lorenzo Alexander. One-man wrecking crew! Why no London Fletcher, Alfred Morris?
I know he’s on a bad team but in all seriousness.. major kudos for Phil Dawson finally making a Pro Bowl. He’s been a really great kicker the past few seasons and it’s great to see him finally make it.
Still think Goodell didn’t ruin the Saints? RG3 over Brees? No Colston? 5 straight 1000 receiving yard seasons? What a joke!
tony gonzalez plays for the falcons. The chiefs are in the afc. of course.
No Richard Sherman is a joke, as you can see the pro bowl is all about a popularity contest. and Patrick Peterson? Are you kidding me?
Wow RG3 over Wilson. C’mon. Wait until Wilson knocks off Peyton’s Rookie TD record next week. RG3 didn’t even play every game. Lame.
WR Thomas (Broncos) should be there
Biggest snub: Casey Hayward
Most undeserving: Jeff Saturday
I guess Russell Wilson can take RG3′s spot when the Redskins make it to New Orleans.
Vincent Jackson goes from one inconsistent QB to another and still puts up career highs…no Pro Bowl, but Cruz and Julio (barely over 1,000) are in? No Dez either? Good thing no one gives a crap about this game.
Andrew Whitworth is forgotten once again. Too bad for the season (and career) he’s had.
This has to be the first year in over a decade that a Philadelphia Eagle didn’t make the Pro Bowl roster. I can’t even remember the last time this happened.
/sadface
Eagles Fan
Let me get this right. Jeff Saturday gets benched and still makes the roster; and Chad Greenway the leagues leading tackler is an alternate. Something wrong with this system!
Why isn’t *Insert player from favorite team here* on the roster?! The Pro Bowl was completely legit before that happened!
LaRon landry? Hahaha I guess they needed one player for the jets just so there’s an excuse to talk about them right before the super bowl
No Big Ben wonder why.
Jeff Saturday at C? No. Sullivan for the Vikings would have been a better choice.
Matt Kalil at OT, Chad Greenway at OLB, Antoine Winfield at CB, and Harrison Smith at S all deserved to make the Pro Bowl.
Not sure Jared Allen had a Pro-Bowl year.
As a Packers fan, two things jump out at me right away. How do you leave WR Randall Cobb or WE James Jones off of the roster? Cobb has really blossomed this year, and all Jones does is catch touchdowns (13 so far this year). Then would someone please explain how Jeff Saturday ended up on the roster? Sheesh….Saturday has looked old and slow all year, and his protection calls and blocking have gotten so erratic that he’s been benched in favor of Dietrich-Smith. This is so high-school…a popularity contest right up to the end.
Dez may lead Cruz in receptions, yards and touchdowns… But he doesn’t have nearly amount of commercials Victor has. If he wants to make the pro bowl, he needs to work on that.

Andrew Whitworth is a first alternate.
Half of the AFC defense is going to bail on this game. Who’s going to want to tackle any of those NFC running backs in a game that means nothing?
We were robbed, said no Titans fan this year. SMH, we suck so bad.
WHAT? NO RAIDERS????? LOL

Maybe a shame but certainly not a TRAGEDY, use a different word.

San Francisco well represented with 9 players. A few more than the Seahawks.
—————-
Puzzling, considering that the Seahawks made them all look like a bunch of JV boys from your local Christian Junior High
Such a joke and always will be until the selection process is based upon actual statistics. Cruz over Bryant? Gore over Morris? Willis over Fletcher? Pro Bowl? Nope. Name Recogntion game? You bet
KC has three more pro bowl players than they do total wins. That has to be some kind of record!
I’m glad Brees didn’t get automatically voted in based on his ‘popularity’, which seems to have justifiably waned due to his relentless post-Bountygate whining. The NFC had a lot of really strong candidates this year, and a guy whose success was apparently dependent on having his head coach there to handhold him every step of the way—remember, too, how awful Brees was in his pre-New Orleans days—doesn’t deserve it. If Peyton Manning could get to the Super Bowl under “is he even still alive?” Caldwell, Brees really should have done a far better job even without Payton there—if he were the player and leader he claims to be.
Gadzod…cj spiller has impressed me this year, but by no means is he as impressive as Jamaal Charles. You can’t throw ypc numbers out there seeing as how Jamaal is now the most efficient back in HISTORY on ypc. Spiller is young and has a ways to go.
This just in. Tim Tebow refuses to play in the Pro Bowl unless he can play quarterback.
Jeff Saturday is too much of a class act to not be completely embarrassed by this. He knows and understands that he is undeserving. I seriously feel for the guy.
And no Jairus Byrd, Leodis McKelvin, or C.J. Spiller? I understand that they are on the most irrelevant team in the league, but they should’ve made this squad. Particularly McKelvin…he has more return yards and TDs than Jacoby Jones! What an absolute JOKE.
Nine from the ‘Niners, but just five from the ‘Hawks. Apparently, 42-13 isn’t enough of a beat down to knock any sense into voters’ heads.
I guess this why I don’t bother to watch the game.
Complete joke…
Congrats on another Champ!
Most complete CB I’ve ever seen. Great in coverage and one of the best tacklers around. So glad to see he got another all-pro selection.
Surprised that Thomas DeCoud didn’t get in. He’s had a really strong year on a defense that ain’t all that great. William Moore has missed too many games to earn a spot, but DeCoud’s been rock solid and put up Pro Bowl numbers.
obviously all the voting was done before the seahawks started steam rolling fools. I find it funny that so many niners make the defensive roster when they arent even the best defense in their own division
The only chiefs player that should be in the pro bowl is charles. Its an absolute joke that the worst team in the league has the same number as on of the best teams in the league. Hali over Woodyard? REALLY
No, it’s an absolute TRAGEDY. Give CJ Spiller the AVERAGE amount of carries the 8 guys above him has, which is 291. That is another 109 carries if you round off. At his 6.5 average with the average amount of carries for the running backs ahead of him, he would have 1,892 yards, 6 yards behind AP, going into the final week of football. He would be 6 yards behind AP with 16 less carries. That just isn’t right. It’s unbelievable people punish him because the coach hates Spiller and refuses to give him the ball.
Spiller has a horrible no passing team & gets passed over with a 6.7 average? Whoa.
What? No Mason Crosby?
Lol
Chiefs have 5 pro bowlers and 2 wins , somebody tell me how Eric Berry made it as a starter …
What about that guy that leads nfc defensive tackles in sacks and is 2nd in qb pressures for dt’s in the league? why didn’t he make the cut? Go Lions! 2013 version
OMG…lots of comments…..forgot what I was going to say !
Shenanigans on this whole thing.
Wow, snub city.
So according to PFT readers Jeff Saturday and Clay Matthews are totally underserving of the Pro Bowl. So an 11-4 1st place team should have 1 Pro Bowler while the KC Chiefs have 5.
Not to mention no one has beaten the Packers in the NFC North in over 25 months so yep Bears, Vikes, Lions all have more good players than GB too. But remember Rodgers is so overrated.
Big deal this game is a joke to begin with.Ley alone the voting system.
I would rather watch a pop warner game than this farce of a sporting event.
Let me also add Eric Berry over Jairus Byrd???? Berry had 80 tackles to Byrd’s 73, but Byrd also forced 4 fumbles to Berry’s 0 and 5 INT’s to Berry’s 1!!!!! You have GOT to be kidding me!
Arrogant seahawk fans. the only issue with getting to the SB is your not ganna play 3 home games to get there.
What, I’m not in? I demand an explanation.
Drew Brees
I think they should abandon the pro-bowl voting thing and award the team spots based on stats. Separately let fans vote for their favorites and give all the players a participation trophy.
Gronk congrats my man
As a huge Chiefs fan, I’m embarrassed for their pro bowl recognition. Eric Berry got worked all year, every TE he played had monster game. Hali’s the 2nd best OLB on the team. DJ probably deserving but they’re 2-13. Colquitt, I guess but do punters even count? And Charles, he does deserve it. Too bad he was misused and could’ve been competing with AD had he been used appropriately.
6 canes in the pro bowl, still most in NFL….. GO CANES!!!!
Upon seeing Matt Schaub making it I automatically thought someone got hosed. Then I looked at all the QB’s and came to the conclusion it was the right decision. Possibly Andrew Luck but too many interceptions.
Haloti Ngata made it on name. He has been getting pushed around all season. I thought Paul Solai played much better than him this season.
IMO this is the legitimate pro bowl roster. I do not care for players claiming they made the pro bowl when they are the 3,4,5th alternate.
Now 75% of these guys can come up with “phantom injuries” so they don’t have to actually play in the game.
all the comments are actually pretty reasonable this year. When they start the voting after week #3, this is what you get.
I’m a ‘Hawk fan. Up until week #10, I wouldn’t of voted for any of them except Beastmode and Unger, either. SF had the best defense (until last Sunday night!)
Figure the same for Dez and others. When you play better at the end of the year, you get slighted.
js
Drew Brees would like an explanation.
The Vikings should not be allowed any players on the Pro Bowl…they ve never won a Super Bowl…..
ex see Eagles
Same posts every year. This is not about who is best, it is about who is most popular. Keep in mind about 40% of these players won’t go for one reason or another, so look at the alternates.
Glad to see Phil Dawson from the Browns finally get some credit. Dude is nails. But there are a ton of dudes on here that won;t play. Both AFC tight ends for instance….
“The NFC had a lot of really strong candidates this year, and a guy whose success was apparently dependent on having his head coach there to handhold him every step of the way—remember, too, how awful Brees was in his pre-New Orleans days—doesn’t deserve it.
What silliness. Brees was not awful in San Diego. Despite his down year this season, he still leads the NFL in yards passing and TD passes. This hasn’t been his best year but it’s still better a better season than about 2/3 of the NFL QBs have ever posted. Does anyone really know what Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, or RGIII would be like without their head coach “there to handhold them every step of the way”?
A lot of these players were voted in basically for there names and not there actual play come on Jeff Saturday he got benched Jason Pierre-Paul didnt have a good year Justin Tuck imo was snubbed along with Alfred Morris James Jones Richard Sherman things like this is why the pro bowl is over rated and probably wont be here no more.

==================================
Actually Jones has 3TDs, McKelvin has 2. JOnes has 2 Kick return TDs and 1 Punt Return TD. and has twice as much kick return yardage as McKelvin so…….thats why he was selected. Jones has been a beast all season long.
Justin Tucker*
fletcher 128 tackles 1 ff 5 int..willis 116 tackles 2ff 2int..
morris 1412 yds 10 tds.. gore 1146 yds 7 tds..
enough said..pro bowl voting is all out of wack
Julio Jones? He’s not even the ace on his own team.
Gadzod…Charles had 2 maybe 3 games where he got under 30 yards due to mis-utilization…just imagine where his season total yardage would be?? I agree however, it should be Jamaal Charles starting. Arian foster 2nd and spiller as 3rd string.
stevie johnson and spiller shoulda mADE IT, THEY ARE the emmit smith and michael irvin of our generations, they are legit speedsters, big playthreats, and a homerun hitter from anywhere on the field.
“Does anyone really know what Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, or RGIII would be like without their head coach “there to handhold them every step of the way”?”
They’d likely throw fewer pick sixes, and they’d almost certainly whine and finger point a whole lot less than Brees, who’s proven himself to be one of the most entitled, arrogant, “it’s all the big bad league’s fault!” babies in the NFL.
By the way, some of the stats you cited were the result of falling hopelessly behind in so many games and trying frantically to pad his stats in garbage time.

No players from the number one ranked defense?
____________
Nope. When you cheat, your peers don’t respect you.
No Buffalo Bills… hmm… Jamal Charles over CJ Spiller? Are you kidding me? Spiller had one of the best yards per attempt in the league. He also has shown that he is a dominant force, even though he shared carries with Freddy Jackson.
No Offensive lineman from Buffalo? Andy Levitre is the best Guard in the NFL today!
How about London Fletcher from Washington? He is hands down one of the best players in this league!
The Pro Bowl is BS. I am definitely going to avoid this years game. At least until there is a better voting system, not vote as many times as you would like. It should be one vote per person.
70% of the players on these rosters won’t play as they will either pull out after losing in the championship game, or will be in the Super Bowl.
So Brees and others will be in the ‘pro bowl’. If Vince Young can be in the ‘pro bowl’…
Brian Robison was having a better year than Allen, and Saturday? Really?! At least Felton get in over Kuuuhhhn.
Brian Robison was having a better year than Allen, and Saturday? Really?! At least Felton got in over Kuuuhhhn.
Pro Bowl = JOKE
The fact that Miles Austin,Dez Bryant and Tony Romo missed the NFC pro bowl is utter BS, no way Matty Frost better than Romo
Dez Bryant got robbed. No way is Victor Cruz more deserving.
Kam Chancellor. Bobby Wagner.
How is Wesley Woodyard (Broncos) not on this list? What a joke.
No one watches anyway.
No Fitz from the Cards? I know he doesn’t have a quarterback but I’ll take him anyday over any of the WR’s that were choosen
ALL you Chiefs fans:
The POINT is that you all have NO QB.
I don’t understand passing K Cousins in round 3. Even I wanted the Giants to draft him at that point. Stupid steal in round 4.
Everyone thinks it has to be a first rounder and usually it is but sometimes you gotta roll the dice…
Chiefs are 1 QB (and 1 GM and 1 Coach) from being VERY competitive…
of course as usual, all the worthy dallas cowboys get ignored. all the romo, and dez haters didnt vote them in. but its all good, cause if romo got picked he wouldnt have been able to play anyway cause hell be too busy winning his first ring of many!
make fun of the jets all you want, they deserve it
but just as much landry deserves a pro bowl spot, so learn football before you poke fun.
I was hoping that one of the Charles Johnson, Luke Kuechly, Greg Hardy group would get in. Julius Peppers screws us again!
I agree Bryant deserves it over Cruz, but you have to remember Bryant didn’t go on his tear until the last few weeks. whereas Cruz started out hot and died off.
when did the voting end?
Even the Pats fans are too embarrassed to come on here cheering up Gronkowski’s selection. He’s only played 10 games. 700 yards. What a JOKE the pro bowl has become.
Chiefs 2 wins = 5 pro bowlers
Falcons 13 wins = 3 pro bowlers
Did I fail my math test?
Andrew Whitworth get’s screwed again!
Adrian Peterson starting for the NFC?? Is this a joke? The Pro Bowl is for humans to play football against other humans, not for robots.
How did Frank Gore make it over Alfred Morris?
#recount
the pro bowl and its voting is a joke nowadays!!!
how does the tea mwith worst record in the league get 5 players in? the same amount as the broncos? fans imo should have no say so in probowl or all star game voting..it becomes a popularity contest of fans vote for a player who has been injured all year which makes no sense at all… do away with the fans”i am a fan” but we vote with our heart and not with the actual players that deserve it!!!
there is no reason the cheifs at 2-14 should have 5 pro bowlers!!! period!!!
How many fullbacks are left in the NFL? Like 5?
stop this so called game. it SUCKS well before it starts….
#1 D in league vs top 5 hardest schedule and there is 1 Seahawk on the team. What a joke…
Bryant got gypped. More catches, more yards, more yards per catch, more TDs than Cruz.
AP is about to go over 2k yards and at least has a chance to break the record and not one member of the Vikings O-Line? And Clay Mathews?? What about the leagues tackle leader?
How does Russel Wilson not make it. And Richard Sherman. Wilson has started every game while RG3 hasnt, and has more touchdowns than RG3
I agree that the Pro Bowl is kinda a joke but I love you guys that throw out stats like that’s the most important thing. Do you watch football or just read about it on the internet from your parents basement? Look how a player like Deion Sanders impacted the game. He never had great stats because no one dare throw his way. So, by your thinking he never should’ve made the PB. Not all about stats folks
I think London Fletcher and Will Montgomery from the Redskins belong in this year’s Pro Bowl…. But all i REALLY care about is that they beat Dallas
Gerald McCoy makes it but no Suh..,…,… love it!
The NFL just wants to see the biggest names in the Pro Bowl for ratings. They don’t care if the best players that year play in the game. As long as the “names” are there. It’s all about ratings and $.
LB Wesley Woodyard and WR Demaryious Thomas of the Broncos
With all these niners playing on defense, the AFC should put up 120 points. These guys have been murdered recently. the most overrated defense in the history of the game.
It’s about time public votes were removed completely from pro bowl voting. Some truly idiotic choices here, as usual.
Also: it ain’t just about the stats.
R. Cobb & J. Jones should’ve made it. But then part of the voting is a popularity contest
A lot of complaints, but everybody knows its an irrelevant beauty contest. A lot of others will actually play after multiple hangnails and many of the very best are out to play in the Superbowl. I like the NFC running backs—Adrian Peterson, Marshawn Lynch, and Frank Gore are all likely Hall of Famers, and one of them is probably headed to the Superbowl. Seeing any two of them run could alone make the game worth watching.
Eric Berry is a below average safety coasting on his pre-draft hype and SEC status. Ask anyone who watches every Chiefs game. He is not a playmaker.
Byrd-71 TKLS, 5 INT and 4 FF.
Weddle-89 TKLS, 3 INT, 2 FF.
Berry-80 TKLS, 1 INT, 0 FF.
Yet Berry makes it and STARTS. Hilarious.
Stats or otherwise Bryant is the biggest snub Cruz has no business being on the roster. I’m a skins fan but fair is fair and Bryant balled out this year and deserved the nod.
“They’d likely throw fewer pick sixes”
They’d likely throw more. That game’s easy.
“By the way, some of the stats you cited were the result of falling hopelessly behind in so many games and trying frantically to pad his stats in garbage time.”
More silliness. They were on the downside of garbage time against the Giants and Broncos but not until late in the 4th quarter. They were on the upside of garbage time against the Raiders, Eagles, and Bucs but he was pulled in those games. There is no stat-padding in the NFL. Offensive players gets paid to do their job. Defensive players get paid to stop them. There’s no crying in football, either.
No wonder the players don;t take the game seriously…….ok it’s a vacation but even still, this has to contribute.
Congrats to Geno and A.J! But like others have said, Whitworth got screwed again. Dude is pure class and easily one of the best O-linemen in the league. Gets snubbed every year. Shouldn’t be an alternate at all. Definitely first pick pro-bowl caliber.
Peterson & Morris got snubbed.
They must have forgotten about that guy in New Orleans , I think his name is……Drew Brees…. Yea that’s it
When was the last time a team had more Pro Bowl picks than wins? (5 vs. 2) Chief’s have horrible coaching and an even worse GM. Justin Houston should make it 6 PB’rs for the Chiefs!
The pro-bowl only exists to be a quick fix for NFL fans in post-season withdrawal. It’s why such a spectacle is made of the draft and mini-camps as well. What we need is a 50 game season to ensure that no man ever gets anything done at home on weekends.
Dez> Roddy White. Not saying career wise, because Roddy White is an incredibly decorated receiver. But right now, Dez is only behind Calvin Johnson as the most explosive dynamic receiver in the league
Mike Pouncey is the best center in the AFC. His brother is just more well known. Jeff Sat is an absolutely crazy selection… he just got benched. Fans should not vote for the Pro Bowl. (I know that is not the only factor).
I feel bad for Justin Tucker, Richard Sherman, Alfred Morris, and Demaryius Thomas, they all got snubbed.
Looking at the team I follow- the Vikings- I think Pro Bowl selection should be based on empirical evidence- stats- as a primary factor. Voting should be the least weighted, and coaching/league selections the second-highest weighting.
For example, Jared Allen made the pro-bowl, despite having a so-so year, based on reputation and previous pro-bowl selections.
On the other hand, guys like OLB Chad Greenway (who I understand is an alternate) did not make the Pro Bowl despite leading the league (or nearly so) in tackles for any position. Rookie LT Matt Kalil only had one sack all year attributed to him, but did not make the pro-bowl (again I think he is an alternate), which also does not make sense.
I think the selection process for Kickers is more empirical, (FG %, long FG %, Touchback %) so a rookie like Blair Walsh made the team no problem based on clear stat superiority. That’s the way it should be for other positions as well.
How do guys like Jeff Saturday get in? Or Victor Cruz? Both have had good seasons in the past, but not this year.
This is the information age. And the NFL has stats on every nuance of every position. That should be the primary factor that decides who makes the Pro Bowl and who doesn’t. In some cases there is some qualitative factors that influence between two players with similar stats that can be decided by coaches/league/experts and to a lesser extent by fans, but that’s it.
As far as Pro Bowl ballots go, they should be limited to the top 5 or so players statistically at each position, and those stats should be in big numbers that are easy to compare across the list.
I’m not sure if this has been mentioned but, the 2 win Chiefs have more ProBowlers than the Falcons…. I’m no Falcons fan but…
My Texans have 8 which is great and none of the selections or starting status surprise me except for maybe J. Jo. Think that he made it on rep, actually Kareem actually had a better year.
Wrong Pouncy in, it should be Mike not Maurice.
Gronkowski shouldn’t be in he has been hurt half the season, that’s ridiculous.
The voting is a big joke, there has to be a better way of doing this. It’s called “scrub” the whole event.
Some of the best players, have been left home.
