I’m sure you realize that there are two types of football fans: 1.) Those who follow the fortunes objectively of an entire organization and team; and 2.) Those who are giddy, little schoolgirl obsessives of the Justin Bieber-like quarterback.
Unfortunately, the Steelers’ considerable fanbase is overloaded with the latter, especially within the Pittsburgh sports media.

A team can only change offensive coordinators for so long before the quarterback has to be held accountable.

Troy Polamalu is the best football player I’ve ever watched, going back to the Super Steelers of the 1970s.
He’s a 7-time Pro-Bowler, a former Defensive Player of the Year and a first-ballot future Hall of Famer.
I’d say that “missing piece to the puzzle” that everyone likes to talk about was none other than Troy Polamalu.

We don’t rebuild. Transition, re-tool, et cetera, but there is never a rebuild with the Steelers.

The defense, aging or not, was not the issue. It wasn’t the best it has been, but I have seen far worse in the NFL. Getting depth would be what they need…injuries cannot be an excuse…so getting more experienced depth on defense will help. The O is what needs the most work.

Wow, Troy. I know in Pittsburgh the biggest factor are the refs, but I really wasn’t expecting you to basically admit this. Yeah, Troy, believe it or not, who is on your team actually DOES matter to the other 31 teams, you know, the ones whose games are not determined by the guys in stripes.

Harrison played fine for when he was healthy, Woodley was pretty bad all year, but the true culprits were the fumblers…brown, Wallace, mendenhall, red man, Dwyer, Rainey.. If they limit the fumbles, they are 9-6 now, not 7-8. That’s 100 reality.

I think Pittsburgh’s bigger issue was the Rooney’s buying into Todd Haley scam. The guy is the offensive genius he claims to be. That Arizona offense with a Great possibly HOF Qb and two number one receivers one who is a definte Hall of Famer would have been explosive with any coordinator.

Troy is right, a big slice of humble pie may be what this team needs.

Young Money Crew WR’s believed the hype but played like Dumb Money Crew.

The Mendy and Wallace; Ben vs Haley drama. Tomlin making one bad on-field decision after another.

8-8 is the low point for this team. Steelers will be hungry and will bounce off of this low like always.

Harrison will be fine. He played much of the season at about 50% due to the knee that required surgery before camp and caused him to miss much of the prework and preseason. According to the team doctor, he wasn’t near full playing capability until the KC game. And statistically speaking, that seems to be accurate, given from that time frame, his play picked up dramatically.

Can the Steelers even afford to keep Troy at this point? How can they justify paying all that money, making plans around, and keeping a roster spot open for a guy who plays 6 – 8 games a year?
