Prince Amukamara had a setback last week

New Orleans Saints running back Pierre Thomas (R) collides with New York Giants' defender Prince Amukamara in the third quarter of their NFL football game in East Rutherford Reuters

A lot of things have to fall into place in order for the Giants to make the playoffs this year, but the only part they can control is winning their game against the Eagles on Sunday.

That task would be a little more difficult if cornerback Prince Amukamara isn’t able to play because of his hamstring injury. Amukamara returned to action against the Ravens last week, but has missed practice both days this week after feeling the injured muscle grab while covering Ravens wide receiver Torrey Smith on a go route. He had an ultrasound this week that showed the injury has gotten worse.

“It feels good. There is not a problem of strength, it is not like my hamstring is weak,” Amukamara said, via Tom Rock of Newsday. “It is just the motion and I can’t really extend it. When I run, I like to extend my legs out.”

Rock reports Amukamara is likely to miss the game, which would push rookie Jayron Hosley into the starting lineup across from Corey Webster. Webster was tested and beaten often by the Ravens last week, making him one of the chief culprits of a Giants defense that just won’t run Perry Fewell’s schemes the way he draws them up¬†and there’s not much other depth at the position heading into a game the Giants have to win.

safety and linebacker coverages are more important this week. Philly has no deep threat receivers

I think JPP should go “purify” Prince in Lake Minnetonka.

Amukamara has developed nicely and was one of the bright spots in the secondary this year. If they can improve the talent along the rest of that defense, Prince should continue developing into the CB he was drafted to be.
