The rise in offense, fueled by the importation of creative college concepts to the NFL level, has created a significant perceived demand for offensive-minded coaches.
But plenty of defensive coaches will draw interest in the looming coaching carousel, especially if demand spikes via 10 or more vacancies.
Defensive coordinators who could be in play for head-coaching jobs include (as mentioned earlier in the day) Mike Zimmer of the Bengals, Jack Del Rio of the Broncos (whose defense has been potent this year), Jim Haslett of the Redskins, Dom Capers of the Packers, and Ray Horton of the Cardinals.
Del Rio, Haslett, and Capers each have previously served as head coaches, with Capers working as the first coach of the Panthers and the first coach of the Texans.
