Schiano and his act will not play much longer in the show. Expect to see him shouting down college players in the next year or so.

I think you couldn't be more wrong! This team was ran by a very undisciplined coach in the past and just weren't ready for a real coach to come and actually take charge. I am not a bucs fan (actually a falcons fan) but I do think coach schiano will be a very good coach at the pro level. I think Tampa will be a very hard team to beat in the next year or two.

Funny everyone said this about Tom Coughlin too. Make them earn their checks. I remember a Giants team that was at near mutiny to winning it all.

And unlike Tampa, the Giants truly ARE worn out. However, they have quit on Tom.

Being tired isn't the problem, neither is talent level, neither is it the coach or GM. Continuity is the problem. Every coach isn’t a player coach like Vermiel
--------------------------------------

How quickly people forget.
Vermeil during his first 2 seasons in St Louis was hated by players & they won nothing but he was building a team, weeding out the losers & complainers. They led the league in players only meetings, there was crying that they were being worked too hard, players asking for trades. Sound familiar?
Year 3 he was left with a team that would run through a wall for him and got him a Super Bowl.

As a Buccaneers fan, who goes to the games, I really like what Coach Schiano has done so far. He has made sure these guys know he is their coach and not their buddy like Raheem tried to be. In his first year with young guys and a new staff, he has orchestrated a better season than they had last year. This is also the first season the Buccaneers have had a 3,000 yard QB, a 1,000 yard RB and a 1,000 WR. It will take a little time but the Buccaneers will be great again.

Schiano will adjust just as Coughlin and others did. he learned that he was coaching men, not college guys.
And yes, to some of you people. These guys work their esssa off! In no way shape or form would many of you be able to work as hard as these guys in the NFL do.
I believe John Lynch. The guy played the game. Likely a HOF guy. Played in Tampa's heat. In this case, I think you can take Lynch's analysis to the bank. Schiano's style was talked about here in Tampa throughout the season.
The NFL season is a marathon. Not a sprint. You have to adjust, accordingly.
With all of that said, Josh Freeman aslo hurts the Buccaneers. He is not an NFL starter. Has the tools. But, still cannot react to defenses well enough to perform at a high level in the NFL. He's a streak player depending on defenses.

As other people have pointed out, practices are so strictly regulated it's not really even possible that he is working his team any harder than anyone else.

And as far his "college style" not working in the pros, I have three things to say to you: Jim Harbaugh, Pete Carrol, Tom Coughlin.

Sounds to me like Deja Vu all over again!

Years ago the Vikes made Les Steckel a former marine gung ho QB aka Schiano like, there head coach.
They said that team was so beat up from training camp they never recovered. He literally beat the crap out of those guys with three a days and whatever in the miserable Mankato humidity in August no less.

They had a miserable season and the players all but threatene to mutiny if he came back. The Vikes got rid of him after one season.

***
Guess you are not aware of the new CBA. The old days of heavy workouts with pads are over. Now they can only have X number of pad practices a year-what a joke!

Maybe, but the team has had a couple big time players get injured, their top corner get traded, a couple of starting rookies playing big positions, a first year head coach, and new players they added in free agency. So physically tired or mentally tired is a good possibility but I think it just the first year of a promising new young team that just needs experience together.

****

How did one trick pony Gruden’s name join 2 excellent coaches. Cowher and Coughlin didn’t rely on the previous coach to win. They did it on their own!

So Schiano is too tough and Morris was to soft. Sometimes as a man you gotta look at the person in the mirror pull your bootstraps up and go to work. I heard the same about coughlin in NY b4 2 Super Bowls. Every coach isn't a player coach like Vermiel or Carrol. But at the end of the day players have a job to do. So get er done!!!

Schiano will prove to be similar to Coughlin in that he is not going to admit he changed his ways but will adapt. He is smart and his players will love him. Wish he was my coach in Philly .

Interesting.
Players are working 5 months out of the year. They're only practice in pads 16 times during the regular season, yet according to Lynch, "they're physically and mentally exhausted"
Surprising considering they're working 20 hour weeks, and most of that is in the classroom or standing around on the sidelines waiting to get reps in.

Sounds like the Bucs aren't that mentally tough to me, and that the team lacks veteran leadership.

NFL players continue to get softer...and softer...and softer. With the new CBA, they get more time off (required time off per CBA and time off for minor injuries and that's not to mention bigger injuries. players of yesteryear played with broken bones and casts), less practices, minimum practices with pads, no hitting in practices, etc. etc. Very few of today's players would've lasted in the NFL of a couple of decades ago and especially not with the rules of football when it was a sport and not just entertainment like it is today. As for Schiano, I agree with many of the posters, he will be back in college coaching soon.

It's always a tough transition going from a country club palsy walsy HC to a taskmaster. Either approach can start off hot because it's so different from a prior regime, and run into struggles a little bit after that.
Wouldn't trade Schiano for any other coach in the league. He's building his own fresh legacy down here. I'm glad the formally cheap a%% owners didn't go with a retread coach. With this coach there is no doubt about who is in charge, unlike the circus that our budget hire Raheem ran. If the owners keep their wallet open this off season and we have a good draft, the Bucs should take a few more steps forward. It's a process and I like where they are headed, even with the loss streak going right now.
