Getty ImagesFor the second time today, Panthers quarterback Cam Newton has left the game.
After leaving for a single play earlier, Newton just walked off the field with an apparent left leg injury. His foot was caught in the turf as he was rolled. Trainers were looking at him on the sidelines and re-wrapped his left ankle.
The Panthers have come back to take a 27-24 lead over the Saints, but the idea of a Derek Anderson-Drew Brees showdown is nothing the Panthers are hoping for.
UPDATE 3:47 p.m. ET: Newton returned to the game quickly, after Anderson completed a pass. You can’t question the guy’s toughness.

Saints fans were cheering when Cam was rolling on the ground, classless organization and classless fans.
Bullethead527: Completely agree. Any fans that would cheer for an injury are classless fools. They’d also be the first to cry foul if one of their own players got hurt. I have to say though that until today I thought the “Superman” nickname was a bit, um, premature; but damn… Get the same leg twisted up twice, badly, and then come back in and score both times is nothing short of super freakin awesome.
so let’s say you have a bounty on Cam, and you knock him out for just a series…how much is that worth?
