Falcons lose John Abraham to injury

When Pro Football Talk co-host Erik Kuselias asked this week whether I agree with Falcons coach Mike Smith’s decision to play his starters despite having the No. 1 seed locked up, I provided an unequivocal response.

“Yes, if it works.”

And it’s not working.

Apart from the fact that the Falcons are losing the game, they may have lost defensive end John Abraham.  He suffered a left leg injury early in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s regular-season finale against the Buccaneers.

Abraham has left the playing area on a cart.

Mike Smith is one dumb SOB. Our starters clearly don’t care about this game yet he won’t let them sit. We’ve lost both Abe and Dunta in this game. Idiotic coaching.

Hall of Famers play through injuries… This is why Abraham is out.

I do understand playing your starters even if it’s meaningless game since you don’t want them too inactive BUT you should never play your key starters deep into a meaningless game.

Get them a half of work and have them throw on the caps on their heads.

he’s listed as questionable to return, so i’m pretty sure he’ll be ready in 2 weeks for the playoff game

If that was Ronnie Lott, he would have cut that leg off to keep playing

Remember what happened after the Panthers game? I feel sorry for whoever comes to the dome in 2 weeks.

According to the Falcons twitter feed, their “initial assessment” is that the ankle injury is not serious. Also, Dunta Robinson’s injury is expected to be addressed during his Monday press conference. So, I’m guessing he will announce Robinson has a concussion and will be questionable for the playoff game in two weeks…Unfortunate.
