The Titans are 5-10, and on two different occasions this season owner Bud Adams has publicly lashed out about the state of his team following blowout losses. That wouldn’t seem to be a recipe for job security for head coach Mike Munchak.
But according to David Climer of the Tennessean, the Titans are going to keep Munchak, even if they suffer another embarrassing loss in today’s finale against the Jaguars.
Climer writes that Adams, who will turn 90 on Thursday, simply doesn’t want to go through another rebuilding effort and has to hope against hope that the team is on course to win a Super Bowl with the front office and coaching staff it has in place. Adams chose Munchak as the replacement for Jeff Fisher two years ago, and now Adams is going to go forward with Munchak.
So while Munchak is expected to make changes to his coaching staff, he’s expected to keep his job as the head coach. Munchak says he’s confident he can turn the Titans around, and in 2013, he’ll get that opportunity.
