QBR lacks any adjustments for quality of completion/strength of schedule that DYAR and DVOA includes. And by the way, Brady just broke the NFL record for most first downs in a season. Consider the order of importance...
Completion percentage
Yards per attempt
Total yards
This is where Manning excels and are "personal stats", then the really important areas where Brady excels...
Total First Downs
Total Turnovers (less is best)
Total Points
These are the things QBs need to excel at to win
The actual wins are a results of being efficient (Brady) and not the mere accumulation of stats (Manning)
Unfortunately the writers who vote have an agenda other than accuracy, something they praise Manning for, but it's obviously not for them.
Manning wins ecause he has a top five defense while Brady has been winning despite his bottom of the league defense.

Tired of the Manning bias. Was at ESPN earlier in the year and heard that they wanted Manning for MVP every year regardless of stats just because he is a great guy. Sorry, but that's not the idea behind the MVP. Peterson has dragged his team into the playoffs with a QB that often passes for less yards than he runs for. Manning is with a team that made it to the playoffs last year and even beat the Steelers in their first round game with Tebow at QB. And this year the Broncos have a top 5 defense. Manning shouldn't be getting extra points for the work his defense does, or because the guys at ESPN have a man crush on him. MVP is an individual award. The fact is...a QBs JOB is ball protection and scoring...that doesn't even put Manning in the top two QBs. Both Brady and Rodgers have better TD/Turnover Ratios by a lot (ball protection) and Brady is flirting with breaking scoring records as he has these last 5 full years (scoring), 500+ points AGAIN, and is almost 100 point ahead of Manning. End result...better ball protection and better scoring by Brady, the only two real measures of a QB, yet media bias favors Manning. Who hasn't heard every coach say...if we win the turnover battle we will win the game?....(thats what Brady does best and why he is the ONLY QB in NFL history to have more than 100 more victories than losses). I'll say it again, Manning's defense should not be a part of his MVP push, especially when you realize that Brady beat the Broncos top five defense while Manning lost to the Pats 30th ranked defense. And the quintessential measure of DYAR/DVOA which far outpaces QBR (put together by ESPN...and weights Mannings strong points at the expense of Rodger's and Brady's...ESPN fails to account for Manning's fumbles when they are greater than his competitors and then fails to give credit to his competitors when they have more rushing TDs than him) has Brady ahead of Manning in DYAR by 300+ points (that's nearly 20% higher) and nearly 5% points in DVOA. DYAR identifies the most valuable player over the entire year, while DVOA identifies the most valuable player per play. Brady CRUSHES Manning in both but the media bias has been criminal all year long. Like Manning if you will, its hard not to, even love the guy like ESPN has said outright, but don't steal for the guy. The real race is between Peterson and Brady and Manning is the guy who is stealing the election with inside help from ESPN. Do we need a Congressional Investigation to straighten out sports like politics? Say it ain't so!!!

Lol Chris Johnson! Saying CJ2k should get it then would be like saying Calvin Johnson should get it this year. The Titans self destructed that year. Okay, so not even considering the fact that Adrian runs with 8 and 9 in the box every carry or the fact that his per carry average is reduced by all his goal line carries. Adrian took a 3-13 team and made them go 10-6 due to his performances where as Chris Johnson took a 13-3 team in 2008 and then ran for 2000 yards and it went 8-8 and missed the playoffs,
What's more, Adrian still had a higher per carry average including his goal line carries. And over half of his yardage came AFTER contact, as rather than just get lucky and have OL create a hole and have the speed that any random fast back such as Michael Bennet could run through like CJ2k did, Adrian gets pressure behind the line and gets hit yet still runs people over, jukes them, runs through them with zero probowl OL.
Over the last 8 games Adrian got 1400 yards, around the totals of the other top 5 RBs for a full 16 games!
Marshawn lynch is incredibly valuable because he unlike Alfred Morris or Arian Foster is a pure runner and not a system back. The difference is a system back doesn't force defense to put another defender inside the box because the kubiac/Shannahan system will pin you inside and create a huge opening and the back makes one cut on the outside and goes, or inside if you go outside. If the blocks are made correctly, it's as simple as seeing open space and running untouched through it. With an extra defender, you create single coverage in the passing game which is why Russel Wilson finds it so easy to find success. true he is very good at buying time and making plays on the move, but is nothing.
But Adrian does in 8 games 14/15ths of Marshawn Lynchs 16 game total with even more 8 and 9 man fronts. There is simply no one even remotely close.
Rodgers did everything Manning did, except Mannings defense was dominant this year and last year, and Rodgers defense is terrible. Rodgers is in a division with 2 other 10-6 teams, manning is ithe worst division in football. DT with Tebow and Orton throwing him the ball put up good numbers, and Decker is developing nicely. The run game is average to above average in Denver which makes it easy to have balance and prevent defense from moving defenders out of the box unlike in GB where most of the year Rodgers put up his numbers with only 4-6 guys in the box and sometimes 7 but never 8 or 9.
There are plenty of passing games you could plug into the MN offense and absolutely obliterate Mannings performance because of the 8 and 9 box defenders that Adrian creates. Well in reality, Adrian would see fewer 8 and 9 man fronts, but the elite QBs would see fewer 5 and 6 man fronts too.

Brees
Rodgers
Ryan
RG3
Brady
Romo
Eli
Luck
(Of course Manning too)
And a bunch of non elite guys that would do extremely well and look elite the way Russel Wilson has because of Lynch (freeman, Schaub, wilson, Cutler, etc)
Adrian Peterson and the Vikings had a schedule that consisted of 2 AFC playoff opponents (texans, colts), the bears twice (10-6), Packers twice, 49ers and Seahawks and the Redskins. Not to mention the Rams and the Buccs.
If you think Adrian isn't MVP you are crazy!
Runningbacks tend to have much shorter careers than QBs and even considering that, there are still plenty of GMs that would make Adrian Peterson the very first choice if they were starting a franchise.
"Great" QBs is the norm now. Look at the rookie class and that's just because more colleges are getting used to and using the pro style offenses. But now high schools are even starting them. Finding a good QB will be easy. Finding a RB that isn't a system back requiring a bunch of really good OL to make it work that can keep defense honest is getting more and more difficult as the changing rules are extending the longevity of the QB position.
Adrian is head and shoulders above everyone else to such a huge degree comparing him to an average NFL runner like McGahee would be like comparing Peyton Manning To Dan Orvloski and comparing Adrian to say Marshawn Lynch would be like comparing Peyton Manning to Josh Freeman. Adrian in a landslide if people have any common sense.

Manning had 2 years to recover from his injuries, while AP did what he did in less then a year. Also Denver had had a cake schedule, easy division plus they have only beat 1 playoff team (Cincy) and have lost to 3 top seeds in the Texans, Pats and Falcons. AP’s team was 3-13 last year. Denver was 8-8 and won a playoff game. AP’s injury has been called a Running Back killer, and he has come back better then ever, he has no QB to take off the pressure. Manning has a good running game and a really good defense. You put an average QB on that team and they still make the playoffs, you put an average RB on the Vikings they win 3 or 4 games this year. Thats why AP should get MVP. Its obvious

His injuries? You mean the 4 surgeries on his neck where he could not throw a ball over 10 yards. Does everyone forget in the offseason that the whole talk was if he would even play again or if it was too risky because he could have been paralyzed. I love AP and I think he had a great year, but Chris Johnson also went over 2000 a few years ago and did not win MVP. Manning was released from where he spent 13 years working with players and coaches to a completely new system and they are tied for the best record in the NFL. All of there losses were in Sept/Oct when he was still recovering. Does anyone not think that Denver would beat HOU and NE now that they are in Denver. Finally check the numbers in his head to head with HOU and NE where he put up better numbers then Brady and Schaub.

Can somebody explain me why Manning is ahead of Brady in that race?

Top 5 D vs Bottom 5 D
Manning has more Ints

Maybe he should get OPTY, but IMO MVP is the player that makes the most difference on a team. Broncos were 8-8 with Tebow lol

Where to start. More passing TD's, approximately the same yards with less attempts, higher completion %, higher QB rating, 11 wins in a row. Yes the Broncos lost at NE early in the year, but Manning had better numbers then Brady did (look it up) and the Broncos were driving and Willis fumbled. Denver lost to Houston (3 seed) ATL (1 seed) and NE (2 seed). NE lost to AZ at home and Baltimore who Denver beat by 22 points in Baltimore. He has also increased Denver's points per game 11 points from last year

There's no question that manning should be the MVP. Look at how good the Denver team is. They have one of th best records. The Vikings are fighting to make the playoffs. Give Peterson come back player of the year and give manning the MVP.

Manning is definitely the league "MVS" (Most Valuable Spokesman) but his numbers are no better than some other QBs.

Peterson is having a great year and could break a long-standing NFL record.

Calvin Johnson is unquestionably the best at his position and has already broke a couple long-standing NFL records this year.

JJ Watt is having a year like no other defensive lineman has EVER had. He disrupts the offense and impacts plays in ways that are not recorded in a stats line (at least 5 of his batted balls were intercepted) and has a legit shot at breaking the sack record.

Throw out the previous injury aspect and the team's record is irrelevant as well. JJ Watt is IMHO the best player in the NFL right now...but he won't win.

If the Packers beat the Vikes tonight, then Rogers should be league MVP. He's put up better numbers than any other QB and you cannot make a case that any other QB means more to their team than Rogers does to the Packers.

If the Vikings win, then it should go to Peterson. This is a QB league and for a RB to carry a team on his shoulders the way Peterson has makes his value that much more compelling. Plus given the stage where he has to beat the Packers to get his team to the playoffs on the last game of the season, this should be Peterson's award if they beat the Pack.

Manning had 2 years to recover from his injuries, while AP did what he did in less then a year. Also Denver had had a cake schedule, easy division plus they have only beat 1 playoff team (Cincy) and have lost to 3 top seeds in the Texans, Pats and Falcons. AP's team was 3-13 last year. Denver was 8-8 and won a playoff game. AP's injury has been called a Running Back killer, and he has come back better then ever, he has no QB to take off the pressure. Manning has a good running game and a really good defense. You put an average QB on that team and they still make the playoffs, you put an average RB on the Vikings they win 3 or 4 games this year. Thats why AP should get MVP. Its obvious

i understand theres a big discussion for both players, but lets get real, we all know manning will win it regardless of what AP does. im a huge AP fan and hope heh destroys the record/packers. but we have to just accept that its partially a popularity vote. people wanted to give MVP to peyton last year when his team crashed without him. manning makes a difference. yeah the broncos went 8-8 last year, but how many 4th qtr comebacks has manning had to pull out this year. how many OT wins has manning had to pull out this year. the guys great, and one of the best of all time. hes way more valuable then AP.
If Tom Brady was actually that great the Patriots wouldn't have went 11-5 without him, UNDER MATT FRIGGEN CASSELL!
Colts lose Manning they can barely win a game.
Pats lose Brady and they won a couple games less that year than they did this year.
Brady vs Manning isn't even comparable. Get him off Bills teet and see what he does
