2013 opponents determined for every NFL team

[Editor’s note: The following was released by the NFL on Monday, December 31, the day after the end of the regular season.]

The opponents for all 2013 regular-season games have been determined and a complete list of each team’s home and away matchups was issued today by the NFL.

The scheduling formula implemented in 2002 with realignment guarantees that all teams play each other on a regular, rotating basis.

Under the formula, every team plays 16 games as follows:

· Home and away against its three division opponents (6 games).

· The four teams from another division within its conference on a rotating three-year cycle (4 games).

· The four teams from a division in the other conference on a rotating four-year cycle (4 games).

· Two intraconference games based on the prior year’s standings (2 games). These games match a first-place team against the first-place teams in the two same-conference divisions the team is not scheduled to play that season. The second-place, third-place, and fourth-place teams in a conference are matched in the same way each year.

Beginning in 2010, a change was made to how teams are paired in the schedule rotation to ensure that teams playing the AFC and NFC West divisions would not be required to make two west coast trips (e.g. at San Francisco and at Seattle), while other teams in their division had none (e.g. at St. Louis and at Arizona).

The official 2013 schedule, with playing dates and times, will be announced in the spring.

NFL Kickoff 2013 Weekend will begin on Thursday night, September 5, and the regular season will conclude on December 29.

Super Bowl XLVIII at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey will be played on Sunday, February 2.

The 72 Dolphins can wave goodbye to it’s sole ownership streak of undefeated season. The 2013 Redskins are going 19-0.

I gotta give logicalvoice all the credit in the world. In between driving his mom to work, giving his grandpa a sponge bath and cleaning the basement, he still finds time to troll consistently. Well done sir.

So, I guess we’ll just pencil in Broncos/Cowboys in for Thanksgiving right now!

Peyton making his return to Indy. That’ll be interesting!

At the start of the season, the Patriots were supposed to have the easiest schedule based on last year’s records. Their strength of schedule came in at about 18th, based on this years’ records. That’s about a 50% jump. In other words, ignore the strength of schedule based on this year’s results. Just look at the Colts – and the Eagles.

wow, the Giants finally lucked out, they get GB, Denver, Minnesota and Seattle all at home???

Buffalo Bills Home: Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots, New York Jets, Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, Kansas City Chiefs, Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers—> 6-2

Away: Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots, New York Jets, Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers, Jacksonville Jaguars, New Orleans Saints, Tampa Bay Buccaneers—-> 5-3

    Buffalo Bills 2013 record—> 11-5

I can see 2013 as the year that buffalo finally ends its playoff drought. The schedule is decent and looks to favor them at home. The away games look do-able, but it all depends on what time of the year the games are played.

Denver fans won’t be happy about four nationally televised games ON THE ROAD–Indianapolis, New England, Dallas, and New York Giants. Will they even have a home game on national tv?

  13. nunezmc says: Dec 31, 2012 5:02 PM

As a Broncos season ticket holder, I would much rather see Manning vs. RGIII than any other game besides Broncos-Pats

  14. nunezmc says: Dec 31, 2012 5:03 PM

Might I add that we could see Tebow’s return to Denver as a Jaguar. Poor Tebow.

  15. mobuccsfan says: Dec 31, 2012 5:03 PM

As it looks Buccaneers could go anywhere from 7-9 to 10-6 again but that is their ceiling based on this schedule. Not sure what it is going to take to get the Glazers to sell this team to an owner or ownership group that cares about getting back to the big dance, but as it is right now, it’s not going to happen anytime soon…sad. They could be 0-16, 2-14 or 4-12 real easy too. Guess I’m ready for the draft…like every year since 2002. Oh well…could be worse. I feel bad for teams that underachieve and have high hopes each year but then bottom out. I hope one day to see the Buccos, Panthers, Seahawks, Browns, Bengals, Cardinals, Bills, Lions, Chiefs, Rams, Vikings and Raiders all become power houses and in the postseason all the time. I really hope Dallas, NYJ, NYG, Steelers, Colts, 9ers, Packers, Colts, Broncos, Saints and Falcons all begin to falter and have 4-12, 6-10, 2-14 seasons…can’t come fast enough…JMO. I think seeing the above teams become competitive and have a shot would be way more entertaining…oh and don’t forget Jacksonville as well! One could hope!

  16. mobuccsfan says: Dec 31, 2012 5:05 PM

As far as this post season field…no many will disagree but I’m really rooting for the following in this order:

    Seattle
    Vikings
    Redskins
    Falcons
    49ers
    Packers

    AFC
    Texans
    Bengals
    Ravens
    Colts
    Broncos
    Patriots

As long as anyone besides Patriots or Packers wins it all this year, I would be happy and actually will watch if either one of these two don’t make it!

  17. blacknole08 says: Dec 31, 2012 5:40 PM

Interesting to see Eli Manning returning to San Diego for the 2nd time, and unlike the 05 season, he’s a two-time SB winner now. That should be a good one.

  21. gigem20 says: Dec 31, 2012 9:40 PM

Since CBS has the Thanksgiving game next year in Dallas it will be Broncos v. Cowboys (Oakland would be the only other possible opponent)

  22. hakk03 says: Jan 1, 2013 8:01 AM

I love the Colts, but they aren’t even in my top five favorite teams. Having said that, I glanced at their schedule and I say a lock for 12+ wins. They seem to be facing storm free forecasts in an already air-conditioned climate.

As a Vikings fan I can’t say we’re a lock for more than 6 wins, and I do believe Green Bay will be beaten in Lambeau this week. Minnesota’s climates are far more volatile in general, regardless of the horrendous trends they will face.
