He came to Buffalo with a pedigree that included a near-perfect string over a 14-year period of postseason performances. Three straight years of no playoffs has ended his run.

The Bills have fired coach Chan Gailey, according to Jerry Sullivan of the Buffalo News.

It’s hardly a surprise, even though G.M. Buddy Nix at one point said Gailey is safe.

For now, Nix is safe. But it’s possible Nix will be fired, too.

And with owner Ralph Wilson now 94 years old, we’ve got a feeling he’ll be spending some of what he can’t take with him on a high-end coach who owns a Super Bowl ring.
