After reading Jim Wyatt’s tweets of the news, it’s almost impossible to reach any conclusion other than that Adams thought he was firing the G.M., particularly given Reinfeldt’s promotion from GM to COO was earlier this year after five years as GM:

“Adams on Munchak: ‘I think he is the right guy to get the job done. He just needs the right people around him.’”

followed by: “Adams on Reinfeldt: ‘He had 2 years left on his deal but I thought we’d be better off without him. He is out.’”

That’s a lame move on behalf of ownership. Mr. Reinfeldt is a real class act who deserved better. I hope he comes back to Green Bay and works for the Packers, where he will be much more appreciated…

Agreed. My grandfather lived until he was 98 and he was of sound mind until two days before he died. Bud Adams was a classless jerk way before he became a senior citizen.

Age has nothing to do with it– ego and skills as a boss do. They need more of one, and less of the other in Nashville, and I don’t think Munch was a great HC choice to begin with.

It’s a shame ‘dinger is no longer with us, as he would’ve been the BEST choice to replace Jeff Fisher. ;-(

Bud Adams is such an embarrassment to the league, the city, and to the organization. Not only because of this unprofessional handling of the dismissal of an employee, but in his behavior as an owner. Hey Mr. Commissioner, are you going to try and set a standard of behavior amongst your owners?

Why would the NFL step in and relieve Adams of his duties due to age? Al Davis was a shadow of his former self more than a decade ago and the NFL did nothing while he ran the Raiders into the ground. That is the prerogative of the owner.

The best test of whether or not an elderly person still has all of his/her faculties is his willingness to pass the torch. It is the owners who cling to power most likely to be suffering the effects of diminished capacity.

Human beings degrade. Our minds and bodies degrade. It’s not an insult, it is a fact of life. The argument that there are some “sharp” 90 year olds is inane. Are there some 90 year olds who remember the names of all their grandchildren? Yes. Are there some 90 year olds who can still very slowly repeat actions they have executed hundreds of thousands of times? Yes. Are there any 90 year olds who should be the ultimat decision maker of a corporation valued in the hundreds of millions of dollars? Absolutely not.

That sounds about right. At some point, the league needs to step in and force Bud Adams and Ralph Wilson to relinquish control of the franchise. When you’re 90+ years old, you can’t make sound decisions in the best interest of the franchise. They need somebody to make decisions for them.

Unbelievable. This team has talent. The fact that it’s not transitioning to on-field results has to be laid on the steps of the coaching staff.

Munchak is over his head. He should have been the first to go.

I’m still thankful that Bud brought the franchise to Nashville, but the last decade (roughly) has been a test of patience for this fan base.

Good luck selling Munchak to season ticket holders next year.
