One thing that most of the reports about Jon Gruden’s “will he or won’t he,” offseason plans lack are quotes from Gruden himself. As it turns out, the reports might be more revealing without them.

Sean Jensen of the Chicago Sun-Times caught up with Gruden before he called today’s Ouback Bowl in Tampa between Michigan and South Carolina, which he’s calling for ESPN. He asked Gruden if he was interested in any of the seven openings.

“Ah, there’s a lot of good candidates out there,” Gruden said. “I’m just focused on the Outback Bowl.”

This guy is full of something stronger than Bloomin’ Onions.

In the last 48 hours, there have been reports that he’s ready to interview, which are followed by reports he’s cool toward coming back.

Mostly, there are reports, which is apparently the way Team Gruden likes it.
