norv is right about the chargers not being as good as they were in the past but how about blowing a 24 point lead at halftime at home no less;how about losing 7-6 to a weak cleveland team;how about giving up 4th and 29 to lose to baltimore.win those three and 7-9 becomes 10-6,do you put any blame for those horrible losses on yourself or is that someone elses fault too norv?learn to leave with dignity.

I know that some of you think that a good regular season record beats what’s been happening lately, but maybe they actually want to win a Super Bowl going forward this time.

Adios Norv. Everyone out there lauding his ability as an OC obviously does’t remember the team that the Herschel Walker trade handed him in Big D. Who couldn’t win a few superbowls with like 10 First rounders and at least 5 HOF’ers on Offense? I could only wish his “experience” as an OC on those awesome Steelers and their classy fans. If only I could make that a possibility, all would be right in the world. A perfect pair of whining losers that would entertain for years to come (or until Rooney took some Immodium and cleaned out the bowels that is his organization and team).

Norv, you confuse the term “playoffs” with “dynasty.” Simply making the post-season tournament is not an epic task anymore. A good HC (your predecessor) can consistently will mediocre talent to a playoff run. A terrible HC (you) can consistently will superior talent their man-caves come January.

What a douche! I’ve seen team with worst talents with a no name QB make the playoffs. I loved it when you were the coach there because I knew with the talents this team has had it would never pose a threat to the Pats as long you were coaching it.

Chargers fans do believe this loser. Yes, the chargers lost some good players, particularly V. Jackson last year, but your team has enough talents to be a good football team.

Norv speaking up which is something he never would have done while still under AJ’s thumb. It was clear Smith ignored doing anything O line wise after McNeil and Diehlmann had to retire, other than the waste dump Gaither turned out to be. Meachem and Royal turned out to be busts as has Ryan Matthews and when you are in the same conference as Brady and Manning, Super Bowl has to go through New England and now Denver. Without the horses he had, with Gates aging, Matthews a bust, the offense was terrible. Norv spoke the truth and it looks like he had a good grip on the situation unfortunately he had his time so now time to go in another direction including getting rid of the prickly AJ which was probably the best move of all.

Turner ought to thank Jimmy Johnson every day for the rest of his life. He did a great job as the OC for dallas’ last SB run, but JJ handed him Aikman, ESmith, Novacek, MIrvine, LAllen and one of the best OL lines of all time, Moose etc. Hall of Famers up and down. Did Turner make them that way? His subsequent lack of success after that, particularly as a HC, Says no.

They had a really talented team when they had Brees/Rivers, LT, Sproles, VJ, Gates in his prime, tons of stud OL, Merriman and others, just couldn’t get over the hump.

Once that talent started to fade or go elsewhere, they weren’t really able to restock the cupboard so to speak. They made moves that made sense on paper, drafting Mathews to take over for LT, drafting rush ends, signing potential star WR’s if given the opportunity in Meachem and Royal, but while a few of the players worked out, the majority did not. Rivers regressed and really the offensive line that was such a force was never stabilized, and Gates lost quite a few steps this year even though he was healthy all season long.

Well, well, well….I was always kinda bummed when Norv bailed on the 9ers after the 06 season to take the SD HC gig. I think things would have worked out much differently for Alex Smith who actually had a pretty decent 2nd season in Norv’s digit offense.

Norv isn’t cut out to be a head coach. He’s a decent OC and owes his career to the Dallas offensive line and the original triplets. I suspect that SD will be just fine moving forward.

Anyone who has watched Norv coach knows he is just not a great coach. That being said i think the Chargers never had a chance this year under any coach. Their “star” QB has regressed badly. His primary weapon Gates is a shadow of himself right now. They tried replacing Vincent Jackson with Robert Meachom. Talk about drop off. There highly tauted running back Matthews was hurt constantly and ineffective when he wasnt hurt. And it took half the season for Donario Alexander to emerge and he is not enough and stats were inflated cuz they were always losing. There solid defense gave them chances to win, but their offense ensure losses. GM deserves more blame than Norv, but both deserved the Ax. But as much as Norv is to blame how can u disagree with his comments? This team isnt close to being a playoff contender, even in such a weak division.

As a Redskin fan, I lived through seven seasons of Norv as head coach. Although that was a long time ago now, my impression then is that he was a guy who made a great coordinator but wasn’t necessarily cut out to be a head coach. After three unsuccessful stints as the head guy – which is two more chances that most people get – he should be glad that he’s heavily in demand as a coordinator and can work as long as he wants in that role.

Best wishes to you, Norv. You’re a decent guy and well liked personally. But nobody is good at everything and everybody has some job that they’re probably not meant to do. Enjoy better days ahead in a job that gives you an opportunity to shine and succeed.

Yeah, I don’t know. Yes, the Chargers lost some players the last few years, but all teams do. Bottom line is when a team leads the Saints by 2 TDs into the 4th quarter, leads Baltimore into the 4th quarter, leads Cincinnati into the 4th quarter, leads Denver by 24 and blows out the Steelers in Pittsburgh …

… all of that says they had the talent to compete with any team in the league this year, but just couldn’t get it done. That’s on the coaching.

If I owned San Diego I’d be looking for a coach to restore a bit of Rivers’ confidence and expect to bounce back big-time in 2013.

San Diego’s window closed in 2010. AJ Smith was missing on way too many draft picks. Norv doesn’t deserve all the blame. I could see Norv taking the OC job in Oakland since he is a California guy and probably doesn’t want to move.
