We won’t be getting any more daily updates about whether or not the Jets are going to hold a press conference.

The team announced Wednesday that owner Woody Johnson and coach Rex Ryan will meet the media next Tuesday at 11 a.m. ET. That will be the first time anyone from the Jets hierarchy comments publicly on the decision to fire General Manager Mike Tannenbaum and will presumably be the first public discussion about the future of the coaching staff. The futures of the team’s offensive and defensive coordinators are murky with Tony Sparano reportedly set to be fired and Mike Pettine operating without a contract beyond this season.

Ryan is believed to be out of town and reportedly told his assistants that no official moves with the staff are likely to happen until the team has a new general manager. The team has started lining up candidates for the job and there’s a chance they could have someone in place by next week’s presser.

The NFL requires teams to hold a press conference with its owner, coach, general manager or president within a week of the end of the regular season. The Jets will be outside of that timeline once they finally do meet with reporters and NFL spokesman Greg Aiello told Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News that the league is looking into it.
