For Vontae Davis, the 2012 season started with a trade from the Dolphins to the Colts. It ended with a defensive player of the week award.

Davis was named the AFC’s defensive player of the week for Week 17, after having two interceptions in the Colts’ win over the Texans. Davis’s first interception set up a drive no which the Colts scored a touchdown, and his second interception -- in the end zone on a fourth-quarter pass intended for Andre Johnson -- sealed the Colts’ win.

Davis is the third Colts cornerback to win defensive player of the week this year, following Darius Butler in Week 10 and Cassius Vaughn in Week 14. The Colts have also had the AFC offensive player of the week twice (Reggie Wayne in Week 5 and Andrew Luck in Week 9) and the special teams player of the week once (T.Y. Hilton in Week 12).
