Potential Top 10 pick Bjoern Werner enters NFL draft

Bjoern Werner, a Florida State defensive end who is regarded as a potential Top 10 pick, has decided to leave school and enter April’s NFL draft.

The 6-foot-4, 255-pound Werner was born and raised in Germany and only began playing American football when he became an exchange student in Connecticut five years ago, but he has quickly picked up the game and is a naturally aggressive player with a quick first step.

Werner had 13 sacks in 2012 and 24 sacks in his three-year Florida State career.

Two other Florida State players, junior cornerback Xavier Rhodes and running back Chris Thompson (a senior who could have applied for a medical exemption to play a fifth year in the NCAA) have also said they will enter this year’s draft.

Wouldnt touch a guy like that in the first round with a ten foot pole.

It’s really spelled Bj√∂rn. Looks funny with the OE.

seriously though isn’t 6’4 255 a little small for a NFL defensive end?

he won’t end up being a de at the nfl level. He will be moved to olb and be a monster!!!

I was not impressed at all with this guy in FSUs bowl game. Looked like another in a long line of FSU DEs disappointments.

There are several guys that size who excel in the NFL.

Jenkins, Carradine, Rhodes, Werner, Christian Jones and Vince Williams may declare, and also Chris Thompson. We may have 7 guys drafted in the first four rounds.

He was playing spy on Lynch all game, not pass rushing. Watch some actual film and not one game before making foolish comments.

Mr Wright212, though i agree with you, dont talk like you “Watch film”. You’re not Mike Mayock. YouTube doesnt count as film.

You are aware that each teams’ games are available via NFL Network and other sites, right? Leave the snark at the door. Not sure why you cats keep trying to check me when I know what I’m talking about.

  13. Mr. Wright 212 says: Jan 3, 2013 5:49 PM

And as a Florida State fan who doesn’t miss games, I reiterate, WATCH FILM and not just last night, when his role was different than it has been all season.

Hey Ive been high on Werner for a long time now. Trust me, the draft is my life. And I am fully aware of Werners abilities and think he is the best 4-3 DE in this draft. BUT I find it funny when people think they are more than a draft FAN and think they are actually analysts. Your a fan. You dont study film and review players. Stop the BS.

He’s hungry to be an NFL star. And for power, too.

He loves to blitzkrieg the quarterback.

he’s not even going to be the best Euro defensive lineman drafted this year…Margus Hunt is

    Beware drafting FSU defensive ends.

I would imagine starting football so late he must have more of an up- side going for him? Either way, the games I have watched tells me he has those important instincts. Think he might be welcomed in the Black Hole…Ja Vol!

24 sacks in a 3 year span? I’ve seen better. Much better, not impressed.
