I feel very confident that Joe Banner was texting Colt during his 7 hour affair with Chip the Visor. I bet it came up right after they discussed the salary cap and draft options for this season. I can just see Colt getting the text and heading to the backyard with his suspended brother working on the ole spiral. If this is true I guess anything is possible like taking another shot with Mangini or the legend that is Butch Davis.

Its bad enough that we have some idiot DJ in Cleveland saying how great colt is, now I have to read it hear. Colt make for a good story, not winning football. The third string QB put him to shame.

That’ll certainly be true if the powers that be think Colt McCoy should be starting.

But starting Colt is a darn good way to make a run at that 2014 #1 overall pick. Evil genius!

As a Browns fan who watched 15 of the 16 games this year (I know…I root for pathetic teams) trust me, Weeden is NOT the answer. McCoy is better even though he had a worse offense around him when he played.

The problem for Weeden is inconsistency. That is to say, in the games he’s played badly, he looks awful and unworthy of a starting QB position in the NFL… But on the other hand- in the few games that he’s played well, he looked far better than McCoy has looked in *any* game that *he’s* played.

I’m not sold on Brandon Weeden at all. But when you figure in that his good games looked far sharper, more accurate, and a just plain a better bet behind center than McCoy, combined with the fact that he’s a rookie, you’d think a smart coaching staff might give the guy one more chance in a new system.

That said, Thad Lewis looked better than either one of them in the one game he played. Hmmmm.

Colt McCoy’s resume does not include the phrases “extremely quick outside the pocket”, “agile with quick feet and good decision making”, or ” game breaking speed when he pulls the ball down.”
It is very difficult to see all the facets of this move, if it indeed does happen. But one thing is for sure: If Mr Kelly uses Colt McCoy to run a read option spread offense it will shorten both of their careers in the NFL. McCoy will get mangled and the Browns will continue to lose.

If Chip Kelly took over you can pretty much guarantee two QBs that will at least be on the offseason roster, Dennis Dixon and Darron Thomas. Neither has had any success at the NFL level and I’m sure Kelly would like to have at least one guy in town that knows how to run his high-tempo offense.

I’ve always liked Dennis Dixon to the point where as a Bengals fan I don’t want him playing for the Browns.

Come on man… This is a guy who understands football. He’ll take the players that he has and keep adapting/morphing into what he wants. Remember this is the last coach they want to hire for while, so time and talent evaluations will set the structure. I believe in this group. Why? Second time around for Banner and Lombardi plus an owner he has deep pockets and excels in competition. Go kick some ass Browns.

Weeden is no stunner, but even as an old rookie he should be given a chance to prove himself. There are very few rookies that can just come in and be who everyone expects them to be. This year is an exception to the rule kind of thing. I honestly dont know what the Browns should do..But weeden should be given that opportunity…..I did watch McCoy though and i feel basically the exact same way about him…Good luck to the Browns and there fans

No way did this come from Banner or McCoy. The reporter was texting back and forth with some players and got the info third hand. What probably happened is that Banner told McCoy that that they want to keep him and this just turned into a giant game of telephone.
