I believe Matt Cassell has what it takes to lead this team. You put more than Jamaal Charles and Dwayne Bowe in there to play with him and you will find success. He had a great record coming in for Brady in New England, and didn't he lead KC to a playoff berth? Give the guy someone who is gonna stand behind him 100% and invest in the team around him, and you will see the best of Cassell. Unlike Brady Quinn who is now unproven with 3 different teams!

If Vick has anything left, he'd be a great fit for a couple years while they draft a successor in rd 2 ...Alex Smith smells a lot like Matt Cassel, but he'd be an upgrade. Ish. I just like the idea of trying to match the speed of Vick Charles Breaston and McCluster in a wide open offense...

I for sure see Breaston and McCluster's roles increased in slot and backfield duties, and maybe Baldwin can do something...but they have to get an outside WR. Jennings perhaps?

Draftwise, it's not sexy but Joeckel or a trade down to grab a DE (Ty Jackson's $14m cap number isn't staying) for rd 1. QB rd 2, DE/OT rd 3 BPA on the line and CB after...

@backindasaddle

Matt Schaub has maxed out in Houston. He cannot take the Texans to the Super Bowl and if he loses to the Bengals on Saturday then the fan base will want TJ Yates to be the quarterback since he won a playoff game last season.
The Texans will not fire Gary Kubiak but they will strip him of the playcalling duties and give the playcalling duties to new OC Norv Turner.
Matt Schaub would lead the Chiefs to an 8-8 or 10-6 record playing against the last place schedule. Schaub would be a better option for Kansas City instead of Michael Vick, Alex Smith or Matt Flynn.
My trade still gives the Chiefs the ability to draft their QB of the future.

It has been proven that teams with no Franchise Quarterback can still succeed and win a super bowl trophy. My point is, that not every position has to have the most dominant, the fastest or the smartest players. The average Joe can get the job done with a good team around him. If I were GM in K.C., I'd take the best player available before reaching for a QB in the upcoming Draft.
See if Matt Cassel or Brady Quinn can get the job done with a different scheme, you never know.

dalucks says:
Jan 4, 2013 3:56 PM
Andy Reid should trade for Matt Schaub. Schaub will look good in a Chiefs uniform and he can help the Chiefs win 8 to 10 games next season against the last place schedule. He will be a good veteran stop gap QB for 1 to 2 years while your 1st round rookie develops his skills. Matt Schaub added to the Chiefs offense and defense would make them the 2nd best team in the AFC West with a possibility for the playoffs. Andy Reid would look like a genius.
The Chiefs should trade for Matt Schaub, WR Kevin Walter and/or Devier Posey, OG Antionne Caldwell and/or OT Rashard Bulter in exchange for trading picks in the 1st, 3rd, 4th and 6th rounds in 2013 and switch picks in the 2nd and 4th round in 2014.
That would be a great trade for both teams and both teams would be playoff contenders next season with this trade.
--------------------------------

Got it all figured out? What makes you think that Houston will just give you their best and proven QB?...is it that switch picks thingy there in 2014 that'll convince them??? Boy, how clever...I wished I could have come up with this.

Lordy, I wish I had Dick Vermeil's outlook on just about anything. The late, not great Leonard Tose may have been wrong on just about everything in his time as Iggles owner, but hiring that man away from UCLA was one great move.
