Eagles to meet with Doug Marrone while out West, as well

Doug Marrone AP

Add a fourth (actually fifth) name to the Eagles jam-packed Western tour.

They’re meeting with Chip Kelly today, then announced upcoming meetings with Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy, Colts offensive coordinator Bruce Arians and Seahawks defensive coordinator Gus Bradley.

According to Les Bowen of the Philadelphia Daily News, they’re also going to interview Syracuse coach Doug Marrone while they’re in Arizona, before heading to Denver Sunday to talk to McCoy.

Marrone was previously scheduled to talk to the Browns and Bills.

And in a how-your-journalism sausage-gets-made aside, Bowen’s note also includes a really nice story about Kelly written from a Philadelphia perspective. It was going to run in this morning’s Daily News, before last night’s report that Kelly was close to a deal with the Browns. It’s a good story. You should read it, if only so Bowen gets something out of his trip to Phoenix besides Marriott points.

Bowen us a great reporter. I have enjoyed reading his articles and watching him on Daily News Live for years. Nobody has been harder on the Eagles or Reid, but, in the end he was clearly moved by Reid’s professionalism over the years. It was nice to see.

College coaches aren’t going to fix Philly despite Lurie’s obsession with them. You need someone who can bring grown millionaires into line not kids on a team named Ducks.

One lousy Super Bowl appearance. Reid should have been run out of town before this

Your choice in online name is apropos considering everything you post comes with an Oscar Meyer label.

The man oversaw the most winning epoch of football in Philadelphia.

His dismissal was a year or two overdue. But few coaches currently in the league have won as much as he has.

Hahahaha. They’re clueless. Enjoy the basement for the next ten years. Those trophy cabinet dust bunnies are smiling knowing they’re safe from a vacuum for anothe generation

When Marrone took the job he said the head coaching position at Syracuse was his dream job. I guess he got over that dream pretty quickly if he’s taking interviews.
