Ponder’s status remains unclear

Ponder

As the Vikings get ready to face the Packers in the wild-card round, questions persist regarding the status of Minnesota’s starting quarterback.

Christian Ponder has an elbow injury. On his throwing arm. And he was limited in practice all week. And he technically is listed as questionable.

Jay Glazer of FOX reports that Ponder and the coaches will go to Lambeau Field early to see what Ponder can do before making a final decision. Glazer also reports that the players haven’t been told whether Ponder or Webb will play. Webb, per Glazer, took the first-team reps in practice this week.

A source close to Ponder tells PFT that Ponder likely will play. But there’s enough of a question about his status to create plenty of buzz that Joe Webb, the quarterback-turned-receiver-turned-quarterback, could get the start.

And some think the Vikings would actually have a better chance of winning with Webb.
