You guys are not doctors. It has nothing to do with pain. Well, it does, but mostly it’s the swelling of fluid and loss of flexibility that messes up the throws. If you can’t pass the ball 20 yards forget about it.

I’m a Vikings fan, and i do have to say… How in the world can you even say “they aren’t the caliber quarterback that starts are especially big name starters such as Ponders and Rodgers”… Ponder couldn’t carry Rodgers jock on Rodgers worst day and Ponders best day. He has a long long way to go to even be mentioned in the same sentance as Rodgers. I do like Ponder, and believe he has potential. But Rodgers is in a class all by himself.

If Ponder starts, he is going to need another game like last week. AP needs another good game as well. But the main thing is, don’t let the Pack start fast! They start fast and we get behind, and it’s over.

But with Webb, it’s a whole different story. He has pure athleticism. He might not be near as accurate as Ponder, (which sounds pathetic) but Webb has speed. Webb and AP, you could see the Vikings rush for 350 yards or more!

See, that’s the big difference. For the Vikes, playing GB is the “big game”. For GB, the Vikes are just a stepping stone to the real “big game”.

i never understood why nobody made a big deal about webb..he stepped in and played good. matt flynn steps in and plays 1 good game and hes the next montana, kolb plays 2 good games and gets a crazy deal, joe webb plays multiple good games and shows hes a good qb and goes right back to backup qb

Ponder has played very well as of late. But, for one game Webb could get the job done. Guaranteed play action fake and a QB run by Webb could result in a 60 yard TD. No matter who plays, it’s still the AP show anyway.

I really, really like Joe Webb. He’s the first guy to congratulate Christian and everybody else when they come off the field. He’s a great guy and a great athlete. They really need to get him on the field. But, he just is not an accurate enough passer to be a starting QB. With their lack of receivers, especially big receivers, I don’t know why they don’t give him some reps at receiver. He is a good enough passer to throw the ball from the receiver position every once in a while too. Randy Moss threw quite a few TD’s as a Viking, and he can’t pass nearly as well as Webb. Why can’t he be both a receiver and a #2 or #3 QB?

Either Ponder or Webb can deliver the type of performance the Vikings need from the QB position. Ponder would be better recognizing the Packer defenses. Webb has more athleticism.

The one downside for the Packers is, there isn’t much film on Webb and he’s a totally different QB than Ponder.

As a 49er fan I have no idea who to root for with this game coming before Seahawks/Redskins. Technically we beat the Packers, but that was a long time ago. Although this game wouldn’t be in Wisconsin. The Vikings beat us in Minnesota, but that too seems like ages ago.

I guess I’m hoping for good long game; like 8 rounds over OT.

Before the Packers fans bash Webb let me remind you something:

It was Webb that beat the Eagles 2 seasons ago, in freezing weather, at the opponents stadium, as a rookie in a game that everyone thought the Vikings would get thrashed in. He ran all over their defense and ended one linemans career with a literal ankle-breaking juke.
I’d rather have Ponder playing tonight, but don’t count out Webbs ability.

Hmm, or the one other reason you forgot-the team spent a high draft choice and big contract on them and is reluctant to think they may have dropped the ball. See Mark Sanchez, Jake Locker, and possiby Ponder. Just because tht are second string does not mean the starter is heads above the guy who starts.

When Ponder is playing well, ie, last week, the Vikings are hard to beat.

When Webb is playing, well, he can make some plays. But, I am not sure he can make some of those tight clutch throws that Ponder made last week.

Bottom line. The Vikes need Ponder to play, and play well.
