too injury prone to be given an extension. If a dude like Victor Cruz with his numbers, less salary and better durability is made to play out his final year, Harvin better think again if he’s hoping for an extension.

Percy Harvin is a better football player than Victor Cruz. He’s faster, has better hands, MUCH stronger, and overall just a more dynamic football player. I aint knocking VC cuz he can play, but when Percy went out in week 9 he was in the conversation for MVP according to multiple NFL reports. Injuries are not the reason to NOT extend him, but his attitude is. A little humility would serve Percy well, no one player is bigger than the team, and it was never more evident than when the team went 5-2 over the last seven games to get into the playoffs without him. Hope to see him back, but I dont think it will happen…

Everyone makes such a big issue about him being volatile, but other than that weird 24-hour dust-up during camp and that meltdown on the sideline this season, I haven’t seen much evidence of it, and a lot of it seems overblown. You never see or hear of T.O.-style antics or any of that baloney, so all of this stuff about him being a cancer may be a bunch of baloney.

If you extend him would probably be 2 more years, essentially a 3yr/17M deal. At least that is what I think the Vikes would max out at wanting to give. The problem with that is that 2 years from now will come the whining about being underpaid compared to everyone else.

Harvin has no leverage as the Vikes can just have him play one more year at the bargain price of 2M.

Just because you’re fast does NOT mean you can play WR at that level.

I should also add that for Percy Harvin, he needs to recognize that the Vikings:

1) Had the faith in him to draft him despite his college incidents;
2) Worked with him through his migraine and other injuries;
3) Featured him and made him their leading receiver and kick-returner;

I agree with it all, and that’s why he doesn’t deserve the big contract as another person had stated.

He has the most talent on the team not named Adrian Peterson. A few talented players don’t make teams great though.

He misses too much practice. He would a top 5 receiver in the division if it wasn’t for that. Until he practices and continues to improve he will be a bit overrated in my eyes.

Just like when somebody stated Ponder is too fragile. Except for the fact that he played every game this season before the playoffs.

If he is still willing to turn his back on a playoff team despite all the Vikings have done for him, he’s likely to be trouble wherever he goes. At that point the Vikings can then trade him to Jacksonville for some top draft picks and let him waste his career down there.

That said, the team could use his talent on the field at WR, where he’s got the size and 4.4 speed to be a difference-maker. It took Ponder the better part of two seasons to start playing like a legit NFL quarterback, so lighten the heck up.

After 3-13 season, to see this season finish with 10 wins, including 4 in a row, only the most ingrained pessimist Viking fan could be ticked off about the season overall.

How many games has Cobb missed? Isn’t he still not 100%?

1) Get him the right attitude and be a team player.

2) Give him a contract extension.

At the end of the day, Harvin will be the featured receiver and kick-returner for the Vikings, will likely get the most receptions, and will be playing for a playoff team with a bright future. Nothing more he can ask for.

I think Frazier and others with the Vikings organization will be able to hit those points home with Harvin and get him on-board.

As Joe Webb, they tried him at WR, and it didn’t work. Personally, I think Webb’s long term most useful position would be as a return man, special teamer, and maybe a few gadget plays as a RB or WR, but not a full time QB or WR.

Just because you can’t play QB, it doesn’t mean you’re going to make a good receiver.

Then they need to cut him now, because he is of no use to the Vikings.

I’d give him a 3 year deal of some sort at least to keep him happy for another year, and see how that deal plays out with his attitude of late.
