No injuries “of serious nature” for Packers

The Packers had a couple of offensive starters leave Saturday night’s win over the Vikings before the game was complete, but it doesn’t sound like there’s much worry about either player’s status for next weekend’s game against the 49ers.

Tight end Jermichael Finley left with cramping that later morphed into a reported hamstring injury while wide receiver Jordy Nelson limped off the field near the end of the game. Both players deemed themselves fine, with Nelson saying that he had done nothing to aggravate the knee injury that slowed him at the end of the regular season. McCarthy didn’t delve into specifics ahead of Wednesday’s initial injury report for the week, but he did offer a positive end note about his discussions with the team’s medical staff about their evaluations.

“But there’s nothing of serious nature, is what I was told before I came in here,” McCarthy said, via ESPNWisconsin.com.

McCarthy also said that the team limited Nelson’s snaps because of the knee injury and he didn’t look quite 100 percent on Saturday. He still had three catches for 51 yards, though, and the depth of the Packers’ receiving corps makes it less essential that Nelson play every snap on offense until he’s totally ready to go.
