Messed up turf???? It’s called Haloti Ngata, a beast of a human, falling directly on your knee. You can’t bounce back from that right away. RGIII was way more hurt than they were letting on. Albeit FedEx field/stadium/whatever is just complete garbage, the field did not ruin his knee. Go Ravens!! The better team playing this Saturday!

But no, I can see your point. I can see where they’d want that field hard as a rock so that when Rodgers gets sacked 54 times in a season behind their god awful offensive line, the field is as unforgiving as possible when he gets planted.

The Packers have also been known to turn the heating system off so that the field freezes and gets as hard as a rock.

LSU has some sort of system in place in Tiger Stadium to enhance drainage, etc. Frozen conditions there are very rare. They replace the turf from time to time.

There was really bad turf in some bowl the Tigers played in a couple of years ago in, I think, Orlando. Terrible field and lots of complaints. I have no idea whether or not anything was done to fix it.

Also, usually when you see a field that bad, its by design. The coaches design their game plan around the bad turf and try to play it to their advantage.

The patriots sprayed theirs with water to create ice before they played the colts one year.

BTW, killface4prez, don’t judge a book by its cover. Those “frozen booger” guys may indeed be horticultural savants. People living in harsh conditions survive by learning more about their environment than do those whose information comes out of books.

The 50/50 blend of real and synthetic grass at Lambeau looks great and holds up unbelievably well all year long, compared to the garbage surfaces we see year in, year out at places like Fed Ex, Heinz Field, Soldier Field, et al.

I’m going to go out on a limb and assume that the guys up in Green Bay with frozen boogers in their mustaches are not horticultural savants. I think every team could do what they are doing if they coughed up the coin.

This goes for any outdoor venue that can’t/won’t keep the turf in excellent playing condition at all times.

Throw in Griffin, who further injured his already injured knee not once but twice during the game, Clemons (Seattle’s leading pass rusher, who will be sorely missed if he’s unable to return), and the fact Steven Hauschka sprained his ankle planting on the turf…well, “field” since it really seemed to be dirt with paint on it….you’d think the NFL and Dan Snyder might want to do something about this.

I’m sure college teams can find somewhere else to play.

Its unreal that 2 players have been seriously hurt due in part to this turf, and that its still a question as to whether or not FedEx Field will replace it, or at least come up with a plan to keep it in way better condition.
