Who didn’t see this coming? Every “running QB” eventually has to stop running so much or else they won’t make it. Guys like McNabb had a good 30 pounds on Griffin and still had to stop.

The best part about it is..Mcnabb is turning out to be one of the best scrambling QBs in NFL history with how Vick's career is ending up, V. Young, Tebow, Donte Culpepper, the list goes on and on.. RG3 can't and wont make it how he is playing . Amazing he only threw 5 ints all season long. He, from what I can tell, is a better pocket passer then those listed above, but putting it all together, in the past 10 years.. only Mcnabb has been able to do it..ok or Big Ben... he's so slow it doesn't count lol

I’m just glad one of our guys was not even close to RG at the time he fell. It would have been excuse 24,560 why they lost. Oh and the Packer fans would have added that as one of their excuses why they lost to us as well just because. Godspeed to your health RG. You are an amazing QB. That last game was not worth your career. I hope you heal back to perfect. Go Hawks.

No, there's only one excuse, and I'm sure you know it better than I do. Good luck, you guys were the better team that night. Robert will be back and we'll see you guys again.

His leg bent like that WITH a brace on…

What were they thinking with Cousins ready to go…?

Rest of the NFC EAST laughing now

Yeah the Giants, Cowboys and Eagles are laughing hard from their couches at home. RGIII beat 2/3 of those guys with one leg. You losers better pray this guy is hurt badly...

Head coaches, despite being under intense pressure to win a particular game, instead must look at the bigger picture when it comes to their QB's health. Like Shanahan yesterday, Tomlin did the same thing with Big Ben last year against the Niners -- and it cost him. That's why you have backup QB's . . . and Cousins showed he could have adequately come in and took over. Something is fishy about Dr. Andrews too. Why did he take so long to comment about his reluctance to let RGIII play so soon after the initial injury that occurred weeks ago?

I for one think RG3 is amazing and I'm a Seahawks fan first and an NFL fan second. I will say out of all the sports blogs I read this site seems to have some really shallow and rude people on it. Not everyone is of course but comments making fun of a guy who is so humble and played hurt knowing the consequences for his team are sickening. Here's to a healthy recover Robert and I know you will be back in the saddle again. And for the Redskins fans that are trying to complain about how the Seahawks talk to much. They back it up. Garçon and Hall, not so much

RG3 will be back better than ever and I had no problem with him trying to finish the game. He got the Skins there and deserved to play until he couldn't anymore. He earned that right. Shanny asked him if he could go and he said he could so coach trusted him. I am so proud of my team for not giving up when they were 3-6. They won 7 straight games and knocked the Cowboys out of the playoffs in the process. As far as I am concerned the Skins out played my expectations of them this year. They won the NFC East for the first time since 1999 with a rookie qb, a rookie rb and a make-shift pass-rush and secondary. So, for that I am proud. As per the future I am excited about next year bigtime. We get back Orakpo, Carriker, Meriweather, Helu, Tanard Jackson and others who were hurt this year. Plus we will get a healthy RG3. Let’s be honest… The Skins would of won this game if Griffin was 100%. Seattle is lucky they caught him when he was gimpy. I’m no sore loser so I give credit to a very good Seattle team and esp Wilson, he has alot of talent no doubt and Lynch is good too. The Skins will be back next year stronger than ever… Skins fan shouldn’t be salty, they should be proud. Hail To The Redskins!

The LCL is for stability...just from looking at the injury you can tell its a grade 3 tear. His knee totally buckled...so its just a matter of determining how bad everything else is and how fast of a healer he is.

I am going to guess...Week 4 comeback

I'm an Eagles fan and wanted the Skins to lose but was hoping RGIII would make it through the game without further injury....when he threw that interception because he couldn't step into the throw I thought ok, they are going to pull him because he's playing on one leg and they have a good backup. But they didn't and they let him hobble on for another 30 minutes or so. IMO the Redskins should fire Shanahan and if they don't the league should suspend him. Simply inexcusable to let him play after his leg buckled on him the first time.

When a QB hands the ball off, they hardly ever get injured during the play. When a QB drops back to pass, they are always at risk of getting injured.

So what does the league do? Change the rules to make it much more advantageous to pass, rather than run, the ball.

The more they try to protect QBs, the more advantageous it is to pass, and the more passing plays are called. And more injuries have resulted. Not just to QBs, but WRs, DBs, etc., etc.

In the old days, it was more balanced between run and pass. And if you called too many pass plays, you risked losing your QB for the year, so you were careful about it. Just like if you give a RB too many carries.

Used to be "good defense and a strong running game win championships." Nowadays your QB is your ceiling.

Tell me how this is good for the game.

Mike Shanahan can offer up any bs excuse he wants to try and cover for himself. What a disgrace. Indefensible what he did to a young kid too niave to recognize the danger he was putting himself in by continuing to play. Shananan should be fired for cause and escorted from the building. Get well Robert. We're all pulling for you.

thermalito says:

Mike Shanahan is a terrible coach living off a distant past. He should absolutely be fired for this.
-----------------------------------------
I agree. He is living off of John Elway's past. He was nothing before Elway, and has been a loser since Elway left. His career record without Elway would get almost any other coach fired. Griffin was his meal ticket and he proved he was a loser on how he handled that.
