APIn the aftermath of last Sunday’s loss to the Seahawks, Redskins coach Mike Shanahan and quarterback Robert Griffin III both said part of the reason Griffin wasn’t pulled despite being at less than 100 percent was because the team felt he was still their best option at quarterback.
We don’t know what 49ers defensive coordinator Vic Fangio would do with Griffin, but he said Tuesday that defensive lineman Justin Smith won’t be extended the same courtesy in this weekend’s game agains the Packers. Fangio said that he would rather have another player at 100 percent than stick with Smith if he is limited by his partially torn left triceps.
“If, from point of view, he’s not playing up to his standard or close to it, we’ll put the next guy in,” Fangio said, via Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle. “It’s been my experience that someone at 80 percent is not as good as the next guy at 100 percent.”
Ricky Jean Francois started in place of Smith in the final two weeks of the regular season and would presumably be the next guy if Fangio decides that Smith’s play isn’t up to par.

Yup
Yup, trader.
Going to be tough for Smith to do his patented hold move with one arm, but we’ll see.
Glad to see they won’t screw around with him if he can’t go but I disagree with the reasoning. 50% Justin is better than 100% RJF. They should pull him if he shows struggle because of pain and risks of further injury.
I don’t see a problem . Smith could play with one arm and besides, his arms are bigger then RG’s bird legs.
The fact that the quote is an “if” is GREAT news for the Pack.
This is all to cover his butt. Cowboy knows 1 speed and that’s all out full bore. A one armed Justin Smith is better than 2 RJF’s.
Here comes the 49ers excuses.
If Cowboy is on the field, they’ll double team him. Even if he doesn’t rush, he’ll impact the game.
This means his injury is pretty serious. Hope he doesnt cause more damage. But the D just isnt the same without him in the lineup. Aldon has been average without him.
As a 49er fan all I can say is, thank heavens Mike Shanahan is not our head coach
Awww poor Cowgirl. Stay home. GO PACK GO!!!

And the Lions’ excuses for missing the playoffs are…?
Oh, last year was a fluke. It’s really too bad that your festering cesspool of a city wastes the careers of phenomenal, one in a million type talent like Calvin Johnson and Barry Sanders.
i dont think it matters much, the packers have revenge on their minds and that will carry them to victory.
My question is.. Why are lions fans still trolling? didnt they finish last in their division and back to the same ol Lions we all know?
Justin shouln’t even be playing, but his pride is as big as the Golden Gate bridge.Besides,Aldon is average without him,a skinny one trick pony(pass rusher).
